and that is damn good! I'm the 62nd of the 65 girls.

I'm happy with the ride. It was so much easier than Mulholland Challenge.

Sweet, Sweetpea! On to the Heartbreak Hundred - it is by far the easiest of the three rides. All things being equal...!

I think Mulholland Challenge is way harder than this. Prettier too.

Really, I thought Mulholland was easier. I guess I'll have to do the KOM again next year and make another determination.

Love all your rr's but I'm kind of bummed I'm not in shape to ride with you all. Great job, all of you. Beth you gotta love Liz's motivational speeches. I thought I was the only one to get those.

So Chris you not only start doing century's but you pick the toughest ones, nice!

Brian what was your time? Last year I finished under 8 which was a full hour over the year before but I was sick that year. And what do you think is tougher, MC or BA?

I got a penalty next to me my name. Why is that? Was I not smiling enough at the checkpoints. Seriously what f is that about, I checked in at all the stations.

Two years ago I didn't check in at the finish back at the park.
They docked me 15 minutes but I didn't care. I was so hungry, burrito's before time! Did you stop at every stop?
If you call or e-mail, they will let you know. That's how I found out.

I just watched Pain Freaks 'Get On My Horse' video! YYYYY????

Thanks for that Liz, but I do recall them making it clear that the timer stops at the top and we should all enjoy the descent back to the park, and stay safe.
I did not realize that you need to check in at Sylvain Park.
Whatever, I know I rode the whole course and the penalty is BS.
    Bergsteiger OUT.

Time to the top was 7:15 and total time was like 9:40ish. I took a nice long break at the top and several longer than normal breaks at the SAGs. I really wasn't in a big hurry, just wanted to finish and have fun. I did both.

Mulholland was way harder. The course was much harder this year than last. Also I don't like rollers like on Mulholland. They really kill me. I would rather just settle in and climb for hours rather than a little climbing and a little descending. So in that respect Mulholland is much harder for me.

Just a quick numbers (not official)
    There were 800 registered riders
Typically believe or not ~100 don't show up/don't start
Looks like ~550 finished all 4 passes
So that means there were quite a few non finishers (like me)...which I didn't really think there was or there was a lot more transfer / DNFs/ DNSs

And the check-in at the end, they are just trying to keep track of folks, make the KOM legit, plus there was a growing trend of personal SAGs ferrying people down the hill, they are trying to discourage them.

I woulda had a faster time if my riding buddy didn't take a cr@p at every rest stop. His time was 6:10 but his computer's ride time was 5:37. #-o

So, who's in for Heartbreak Hundy?

I've only done it once 3 years ago, 8:27 but was penalized 10 minutes for missing a check in at the ranger station after a buddy asked for a pump right at the approach. I forgot to sign in.:?: S0 my total time was 8:37, not bad for a first timer and a 230lb rider.:D

I'm sure Id take time off now knowing the course. Like Ride Around the Bear, I did 8:38 the first year and 7:40 th next!:bang:

I like the Bear much more, nicer roads:clap:, done it 4 times. Heard it's different this year with the construction

I can't wait! I love riding areas I've never rode before. Maybe we can do a training climb or two before?

I'm 45th of the 65. Just like you Lois, my goal was to finish and I did. Also agree this was easier than Mulholland. I hear Heartbreak is suppose to be very scenic and we will be on roads with little traffic. I guess after hwy 38, any road would be less traffic.

Unfortunately I will not have time to get in much training before the next event. My wife and I are taking off to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. I'm trying to bring my bike. I'd like to ride from Yellowstone to GT one day.
