Another Bommer Canyon open access day today. Started later than planned at 8:30 AM since F1 qualifying took forever this morning. The sun was already out and the humidity was like Florida. To make matters worse, my rear caliper has two pistons that were not firing
. I was about halfway up the first super steep hill from Quail when I noticed ... couldn't figure out why I was struggling so bad, and even got passed by two hikers, LOL. Lifted the bike and spun the rear wheel and it stopped after 3 rotations. I tried a trail side fix, but no luck. Since I am hard headed, I did the ride anyway, but damn it was tough fighting the brakes.
Down Cattle Crest, up Rabbit Run and back down, then up Fox Run and back over to Rabbit Run for another go at that one ... then Shady Canyon singletrack, up to and down East Fork before riding Shady back to Quail. There were a lot of hikers on Rabbit Run which is unusual. The other trails were not bad ... it seems like everyone started early and got the hell out of there before the heat hit.
Riding against my rear brakes gave me quite a workout, I feel like I might actually be sore tomorrow. If I ride Sunday, it will be on my other bike until I can fix those pistons. Not too sure I want to ride again until this humidity eases though.
