I got out for a very late start at Bommer Canyon Saturday morning. I usually start @ 7-8 AM, but didn't start this one until after 11 AM. It turned out to be a good thing, as it was cool with a breeze for most of the ride, so heat was not an issue. Also, far fewer hikers and bikers than normal.
I had a pretty good blast down the fun part of Cattle Crest ... and felt fast for the most part, but I made a few mistakes so no PR. Still fun.
Up and down Rabbit Run, which is no fun up but a blast going down. I rode straight into one of their terribly placed trail drainage spots near the top. I managed to avoid all the others, this time. Just terrible trail work. I survived the gnarly section at the bottom, so that is always a relief.
By the time I got to Ridge Route, I was getting tight on time as they close at 2 PM. I had a really fast ride down as it was completely empty except for two riders comng up. Unfortunately, stopping for them cost me a PR. So close to an empty run, LOL.
I then climbed back up, and when I checked my watch it was 1:55 ... just enough time to get down East Fork which is high speed and steep. I got to the gate just as they were starting to close it, so perfect timing there an no people on the trail.
Good ride, great weather. It is usually pretty hot in Bommer this time of year, so I got lucky today with such a late start.
The bottom section of Rabbit Run. Steeper than it looks:

One example of a terribly placed drain. The trail goes right, drain goes left. Blind corner and there were many bike tracks going right into it. Crap work.

Big Rock is the fast line. Trust me.
