The Bommer Canyon exploration days are rare, so I took the day off work Friday to go ride. Same as the Open Access days, but with far fewer people being a weekday and all.
I started at about 9 and made my way from Quail Hill parking over to Cattle Crest. I like the "1st DH" section of that trail so stopped to take a little rest right before where I think it starts. The recent rains took a toll and made it pretty rough and rutty. Still super fun though.
I thought about going up then down Rabbit Run, but the rocks in the black diamond section of that trail were wet with overnight moisture, so I passed this time. So it was up Fox Run where some of the chunk towards the bottom is starting to come back after their inexplicable trail smoothing over the summer.
I figured I would come back later to do both DH's, but it didn't happen as I got tired. Anyway, over to East Fork and I had a fun ride down that. The beginning and end are pretty mellow, but the middle is a blast. That trail is very rough right now after the rains, and some of the ruts are ride ending, LOL. Don't look at them and you will be fine. Maybe.
I rode up and then down Ridgeline (Ridge Route) where I scored a PR. I was not really giving it my all, but it was the first time in history where I did not encounter a single person hiking or biking. Just a clean run all the way down. That in itself made it worth it to take a day off, lol.
After that, Shady Canyon back to Quail and done. Fun ride, and the weather was perfect.

Bad rut on East Fork, but not even close to the worst ... these are made worse by how extremely fast and steep the trail is.

Don't crash here on East Fork, because ...

... this is what is off to the right (and it's a lot farther down that it looks in the pic).

Full run of East Fork ...
