rode once in the last month, spent the last month sitting in front of a computer for 13 hours/ day..can feel my body getting weaker and flabbier -- gained 5 pounds.....this kind of sucks...how long do u think it will take me to get back in good shape?

It's depressing isn't it? :-({|= I've only ridden 1 time in the past month (also 1 road bike ride), but it sucks. I blew the motor in my car and have been spending every spare moment rebuilding the motor. You'd be surprised how quickly you'll get right back into top shape again. I was out for 2 1/2-3 months when I broke my wrist and I was shocked how well I did on my first ride back.

My experience has been that my muscles always come back relatively fast... it's my lungs that take a while to get back into shape.  I.e. lifting weights, i can come back fast, but swimming laps/surfing... [-X

I'm in the middle of "busy season" also (70 hour weeks)... I know I have no time to lift weights, surf, run, swim, ride... BUT I do try to stretch as often as I can.  You might try that.. won't help with weight loss, but will keep you limber and long.

Five numbers and one super number away from freedom... ](*,)

It looks like I won't be biking for a while. I hurt my knee about 4 years ago while riding (did a nice faceplant on Car Wreck- twisted my knee pretty good). Within the past couple months it started bothering me again so I began wearing my brace again. Its only gotten worse. I went to the Dr and she it sounds like the Meniscus and she wants an MRI. Well I checked with my insurance and it seems like I'll have to pay for most of the MRI and any arthoscopic surgery on my own, which isn't going to happen right now. So, long story short, I'll be off the bike for a while to let it heal a little. This sucks bigtime. Any advice?

My advice would be to swim?? And, also, pray for healing. Sorry to hear about your situation.

Aww man. I'll be praying for you dude. There is however a bright side--It could be worse...a buddy of mine totally blew his knee out(long story), and he can't ever ride again :(  I know it's not much consolation, but maybe it will make you feel a little better. I'm about to head out for a ride now, I'll raise my CamelBak sipper tube up for you at the top of the highest climb :)

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Oh sweet, what does he do there? I have a turbo Civic, rebuilding the engine with forged pistons and beefier connecting rods. I've just about got it done, should fire it up tomorrow night :D I work at a Honda/Acura repair shop....been there for 9 years now.

He's a salesman. If you ever need parts for your shop give him a call. Their located in Costa Mesa. Ask to speak to Jason once you call, and tell him your a friend of mine.
