The best way to describe this ride is one of the best I have done in a long time.Theres not much of a story to tell about climbing up Blackstar, except Dean and Gene get the award for best climbers. They hauled all the beer.We had a good turn out.I don't recall all the names so I will let the pictures tell the story. When we all got to the top and it started getting dark you could see lights all over the mountain from cars and mountain bikes. It was pretty busy out there. The weather was absolutely perfect.Little bit of a breeze but not cold at all.We all enjoyed some drinks and good conversation and a extensive Fireworks display. You could see them as far as Riverside. On the way down mtbfred had a flat so we stopped for awhile and ran into some other riders not with STR.Well at the bottom of the trail where the cement pipe is, one of the riders we met hit a hole and went down hard.We filled in the hole with some tree branches.Pamela went down as well but was ok.Word is Jhon flew of the side of the hill where the wash out is near the top, and ended up 30 or so feet down the hill.Other than that no other crashes. When we got to the bottom we realized we were missing 3 riders, mtb4fun ( jeff),Richie-Rich and lynn.we hung out to wait for them to make it down.By the time we all left the parking lot it was 11:30.Like I said this is one of the funnest rides I have done.So here is some pictures. Some of the pictures are blurry, haven't figured out why they turn out like that sometimes.

:lol: Thats not a tank top. He's wearing bib shorts sans jersey! OMG!! The hairy gut hanging over the bibs is..is....OMG! I'm speechless!. I'm going to try to post that up in the hottie section of the womens forum!! Good job dude!

I was questioning what did I get myself into all the way up. I hiked a good amount since my knee was starting to really hurt so I was hiking and riding. I was close to turning around maybe half way since I didn't think I was going to make it in reasonable time. When we finally got to the top of Beeks I think they said we are staying here. I was never so happy, LOL. It was a great night up there could see fireworks from all over Socal. The descent was quite fun, even if there was a few ohh crap moments for a few people and a few people went down. I am glad I decided to push on, but I am never trying something like that after pretty much no riding for 5 weeks.

Glad you made it to the top,its a little harder than the fully loop like you were saying last night.

In his defense... It was a full jersey/bib uniform with long sleeves but it was so sweat drenched at the top he hung the top up to dry....

Sorry about being the hairy guy in the Bibs. My jersey an and pack got soaked carrying some beer. It had to come off to dry. I'm sure there are guys on STR with more of a fur-shirt than I have.

for the people who I really offended, I'd blame the people who didn't get enough of me in person, but just had to share by taking and posting numerous pics :p :D :p :D

If you wear Oakley or other unlined shorts, you should at least consider wearing bibs under them. They are waaay comfy.

looks like you had fun, chewi ditched me and wouldnt ride up our side so I decided to just go sit in the pool shame on Chewi shame

If you would have come up the other side you would not have found us...most of us never made it to Sierra Peak. We hung out on the hill just north of Beaks.

That was a great ride! The view from the peak was fantastic, and the extra few miles were well worth it!
And mtnbikerfred, you just wear whatever you want --- don't listen to what anyone says! They're just jealous.

you dont have to tell fred that he always wears what ever he wants

I did not hear anyone say we were stopping at hill near Beek's for good so I continued to Sierra Peak as originally planned. When I got there and saw no one else behind me I realized there must have been a change of plans. It was too late to turn back as the fireworks just got started and I didn't want to miss any of it. So glad to see Rich and Lynn make it to Sierra a bit later as I was hoping to see some riders with solid lights. Thank you all for waiting at the parking lot to see everyone made it back safely.
