Bike Snobs

Hey try living on my side of the fence....For the record, my bike is like in the 4k range. :P :P :P PLEASE NOTE :P :P :P I was climbing up brownie fire road about 7-10 months ago and pulled to the side so my friend can fix my broken chain. (Sue me, I don't know how to fix it) :) Anyways, this rider was climbing and he started saying that is one hell of a good bike!!! And then all of a sudden, like on Q or something this guy started bad mouthing my ride who was behind him. He was saying, it's really not a good ride because something about the seatpost or some shict liek that. ..... well I could not hear him because he was rounding up the switchback. It turns out that guy bad mouthing my bike was an employee of Montrose Bike Shop from what the other trail users said.

Wait, what's my point? I'm really pointless most of the time. Don't let these people bother you. Honestly, I maybe riding a 4k bike, but I really don't have any skills! I'm slow as hell but I just climb away or else I feel like crap all week while at work.

Anyway...at least you can upgrade and be happy. Me I wish I could wear a face mask cause it's really pathetic to ride a nice bike and be slow. but it's america, so sue me for being slow with no skills!!!

Sorry you had a bad expierience man! Not everyone is like that, you know, you cant buy fitness, you cant buy cool, money cant buy you happiness but it will give you choices, too bad that dude chose to be an ass with his bad ass bike. What he should have said was 'hey man wanna ride! YOU CAN RIDE WITH ME ANYTIME!

Airone1......I totally feel you. I've seen enough snobbery on the trail to last me a lifetime! You know how some guys are. They need to compensate for something they're lacking. I used to subscribe to MBA Action mag., but got tired of their attitude. Same thing with SCUBA mags. It seems snobbery is quite pervasive in these particular forms of activity. Just keep riding.

I rode my mountain bike to Como Street yesterday. Before the ride started, a couple of guys were clowning. Not because I was on a mountain bike, but because of how old it was.

Thanks for all the positive feedback folks. Please remember, I'm meaning no disrepect to riders with expensive bikes, if I had extra money I would love to pick up something new. But most of my extra money, if I could ever really call it "extra" usually goes to the house, wife, kids, etc...
When I came across the site a few months ago I was very please. It's very cool meeting or reading messages from like minded people.
Oh by the way, no tube socks, just platform pedals with running shoes, baggie mountain bike shorts and a t-shirt.

It was probably some old guy on a titanium bike. They can be jerks! All kidding aside, some people just have way to much hate in them and take life to seriously. Just have fun and enjoy the ride!

Sounds like your priorities are in the right order. Don't worry about what others say. If you enjoy riding that's all that matters. As long your out there and you like your bike and it's doing it's job for you, ride-on and enjoy.

P.S. You'll probably retire at a reasonable age, enjoy life while some of those bone-heads with uber expensive bikes are still making credit card payments on a bike they owned some 15 years ago. See who's laughing then....

What is cool?

Not cool, Diamondback!...Hey, some of us "old and in our 40's" rock the Reigns and SS Slopestyles! GIT SUM!!

So by Your rationale is it cooler to just follow the herd or to take a new path :?:.

you cant buy it

skill/fitness is not for sale. Mtb companies fear this fact. They are all like the old Snake Oil salesmen of yesteryear. Our innovation will allow you to ride like a pro, and

And we are the suckers that keep them in business.

drink the cool aid drink it up....

Aint it funny that if you had been riding the Ibex SS (the more inexpensive bike) those guys probably would have complimented you instead of talking crap?

That's some damned good peyote induced wisdom, Rolo...

IMO, You've started skiing the slippery slope called conspiracy. Wouldn't it be more logical to say that there are a shitload of bike companies churning out products that are 99% similar and whom are vying for sales in a saturated and competitive market? These companies try to differentiate themselves from each other by appealing to a certain aspect of their products that may be different than the competition. Some companies do it better than others but that doesn't mean that there are not a lot of great products available if you're willing to do some homework.

Just another great example of how people have this narcissistic, look at me im a superstar, you friend me first on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, check out my Podcast type attitude these days.
