I'd like to get a group ride going for a Saturday, hopefully August 6th over at Big Bear. i also plan to go camping that weekend from Friday to Sunday. i also plan on doing some night riding up there.

Plan: to get all day lift passes ($20) and ride as many singletrack trails down the mountainside as possible. Lifts operate from 9 am till 4 pm

i've gone twice in the past 2 weeks, once with Hector the other with Aldo; and have dialed in most of the singletracks around Snow Summit. we'll be able get a lot of great singletrack in an efficient manner with  4 -5 trips on the lift.

i'd like to hear what you guys have to say in regards to both camping and the possible group ride.

i also posted this early so you guys can arrange carpools since the gas is so expensive.

I'll start asking co workers to see if they'll cover me.

* crosses fingers *

I just rode Big Bear today and it was a great ride. We got in about 24 miles of riding. I think we went down 1E01 and Upper and lower trail. I dont know if I can make it to the aug 6th one. Ill see....

the trails that i went on:

plantation
cabin 89
fall line (upper & lower) AKA-pirates of the caribbean
pine knot (1E01) upper and lower
grandview point

were all in good condition, a little loose in some parts but very fun.

the fireroads (2N10, 2N17 & 2N08) were the parts that had the most loose sections.

just comfirmed 2 campsites at Pineknot campgrounds for august 5th (friday) to the 7th (sunday) night rides are planned for the weekend, so all who want to join in contact me.

Saturday will be the Main Ride.

Fall Line Upper & Lower are totally seperate/different than Pirates.

To access Pirates you go around the right side of the resevoir at the top of te lift.

To access Fall Line you go around the left side of the resevoir at the top of the lift.

Lower Fall Line turns off of a singletrack next to a wood bench.

Pirates drops you off on N2n10 Fireroad down to Fern Trail.

Fall Line drops you off on doubletrack well delow Ferntrail on Bristcone Trail.

Trust me....I have climbed Pirates and n2n10 enough times the last few years for XC races.

Dino and I are a possibility for that weekend, although we would probably stay in a motel or townhouse. Are you going to be riding on Sunday also? We would probably head up early Saturday morning.....we'll keep you posted.

Big Bear Ride

Might I and another rider join you guys tomorrow for the ride? Where/when will you meet Sat morning?

Last call, Gentlemen!!   \:D/

i'll be camping at the pineknot campgrounds just east of Snow Summit a huge sign is there to direction once to enter the Snow Summit parking lot.

For those that want to meet us on Saturday; I'll be at the Snow Summit Lift (where you pay and fillout the waiver) from 08:30 am till 9:10 am at the very latest. :D

Hope to see you guys out there!!!

Next Big Bear ride?

Looking for that next Big Bear ride? Missed the last one ](*,) and don't want to miss the next. Hope to see the post sooner, I'll have to get work covered if its during the weekend. Or someone drop a note; [email protected]. 8)

Did they even go on the ride? I havent seen any updates about the ride. I know there were T-Storms in the general area I think, the threat of the storms kept Rob and I away.

hey guys.

we did go up there. I met up with "H" along with Hector and his son i was there Friday tru Sunday. rode both Saturday and Sunday. the trails were in the best condition i've ever seen, the ground was tacky and dust free. I found a couple of new trails to go down on, and they were very fun. We got hit by a thunderstorm coming down one of the runs but it only lasted about 30 minutes. Riding in the rain is not bad, since i've done it many times before. The lifts are actually open from 8 am till 5 pm on saturdays and 9 am till 4 pm on sundays. Hector, Little Hector and me went off-roading in the evening and had a blast. Sunday was a fun and we rode till noon.

looks like the next Big Bear trip should be Saturday, August 27th

see you all there

What are the bike restrictions? I have a 35# KHS Fr2000 w/ a single crown and 2.3 tires..I have been told by a couple people I can't ride it up there...
