Headed up to Big Bear last weekend, trip was planned for awhile lucked into some snowfall on Thursday. We left around lunch on Friday, snuck in a ride from our cabin in Sugarloaf over to Skyline. Trails were covered in Snow wherever there was alot of trees, Skyline is a blast in this condition!

The following day we did Wildhorse. If you have never been, it is some of the best I have ridden in BB. Even funner in the snow. Amazing how you can get so wrapped up in a ride you just don't take enough pictures. Anyways...

Trail conditions were amazing last weekend so I would recommend it. They only drag was some of the climbing back up to the top in the snow sections, just requires a bit more effort than normal.

Thanks for the post. I didn't know there was good access on that side of the hill.

I looked back through my old posts and I couldn't find some info I added a while back. From memory, if you're already riding on Skyline, you should be able to take 2N06 (Radford) a little ways to 2N21 and take that past Sugarlump and over to Sugarloaf. I had no idea you could keep going out there towards 38. Supposedly, the powers that be have found out that the land on that side is just like the area off of 2N10 that allowed the Skyline Trail to be built on designated fire break lands. The article mentioned that when Skyline is complete, the path to Sugarloaf should start.

@OTHRIDER I would love to read that article if you have a link.

I believe I have seen the way over you're talking about on various peoples GPS routes but haven't put it together yet. We just went through the streets, cold and it was getting dark.

There is basically 2N93 and the Wildhorse Single track down to 38 on that side. A few little trails here and there that I haven't really explored just because I don't believe they go too far. The single track drops you on 38 not to far up from Southfork so the possibilities are endless to put together an epic day. Obviously the Radford climb awaits if you are starting in BB which is always SO much fun....
