Nice meeting up with some of you STR folks!! Even though we didn't take a run together....

Skiers right of the chair is pretty good. There are a few trails that still need to be cleared, although it's definitely going to take a chain saw on one of them. Unfortunately, its my favorite trail there.

I did noticed that Craig is now running the lift at the bottom and they are checking tire size. That seemed to be the main thing they were looking for. Karen, the longtime liftie who would load any bike, is no longer working at Snow Summit. Maybe she was puffin too many doobies?? Anyways, she was the one who would let any bike on and she's no longer there.

SOOOOO...Let's all follow the rules and keep Summit open.

Have fun....

Not much of a photographer here are a few pictures.Thomas set up a nice ride with plenty of great people to ride with. This was my first time using a ski lift the operators seemed to like us and gave us a STR discount $20,they dont seem to care what type of bike lock and load and away you go.I took 8 runs slower than most not wanting to Dirt Nap,we all made it out in one piece.Lets do it again.

So what is the max on the tire size? I run a 2.5 and a 2.4 on my AM bike, is that too big?

I'm a lurker here on the board. I was able to get a few runs in on Saturday while I was in the area for a friends Bday. Just want to say thanks to Matt and Danny (sorry, If I got your name wrong) for letting me tag along on some runs. Had a blast and it was cool meeting you guys.

Big Bear

Big bear was fun, thanks to everyone who came out!

It was a long day for me so ill just tell it by the times.

I woke up at 5am. Got ready and headed over to bryguys house. When. I got there bry. Was woeking on his thule bike rack(removing an extension.)

Its around 620 now and the day is really shaping up to be beautiful. Clouds were alreaidy burning off. We pick up stevec and hit the road.

I'd say it was around 8 am when we get to the 38 since the 330 was closed. Bry made good time up the hill and we got to big bears vons around 9am. Stocked up on sandwitches, chips, and beers. We get to the lot and it was good to see everyone ready to attack the mountian. We
Geared up and were off. We get to the lift start paying and KyleM informed us that we were getting the group rate! I didn't know Snow Summit did that. On to a long good day of riding! thankfully we had no serious injurys or mechanicals!

We went to the mexican food place nearr summit and enjoyed some grub before heading down the hill. Justdown the hill after sart the road was closed! So I got out and walked to find out what had happened. Somebody decided that a tree was a nice place to stop at and crashed. We saw two heli's land on the 38 to air lift the people out.

Here is a little video I threw together. Low quality unfortunately.

A beer on the lift is a great way to kill 15 minutes!!! It looks like you guys got lucky with the weather. Completely different than the weekend before.

How many people do you need to get a group rate? What is the discount?

I think the discount varies depending on the party size, and it's probably a good idea to call ahead. They want to make sure that you are an actual group going up, not just random people in the parking lot that formed a spontaneous group to get the discount.

Any advide for bringing Kids up there???

this looks soo much fun - i have never ridden there

So I am thinking of bringing my 9 year old up - he is pretty good for his age and I figure it should be fun if we stay on the xc trails. Any thoughts? He has a crappy hard tail - you think it will be fine if I throw some wider tires on there or is it worth renting a FS bike? Just curious if anyone has gone with younger kids - he is all excited to go but my wife is on the fence....
