For DH? nope. 1 lift ride max per day with a bike.

ya. thats the new rule. 1 lift-ride max.

I think it's their final attempt to get rid of all DHers.

Last year I was hearing the 1x rule, but myself have not heard it recently (I have not checked), but I'll have to say if this is in fact true, they'll get rid of more than the "DHers"!

What a shame. I've been riding up there since the early 90's. Used to be a great get away. Now (for several years) just tired.

Supposedly they are tightening the rules as well. We all know now that DH bikes can have single crown forks, and weigh a lot less than in 2004. I guess the gigs up? WFC, I have not ridden up there since they shut the lifts down to DH bikes. I had a lot of fun, I miss it being there but I am WAY over it.

Northstar in Tahoe is 1000 times better than BB ever was. I can't wait for someone to figure out how good a business a year around gravity park in Socal would be.

According to thier summer website Snow Summit will still be doing all day passes...Same rules as last year.

    http://www.bigbearmountainresorts.com/summer/big-bear-biking-rates.php

If they are doing the unlimmited passes, I hope that the few MTBr's that are spoiling this for everyone stop going rouge and stay on the designated trails.

I enjoy having somewhere close where I can pay $20.00 for a day of lift assisted riding.

It goes back to one of the basics of statistics, 20% of the people are causing 80% of the problems. If Big Bear does not have the type of riding you want go somewhere else...don't ruin for those of us who enjoy riding there on the designated trails.

    OK...rant over

    Amen to that, bruddah.

I've heard tell that Northstar is pretty good. This Summer i'll take a trip there (with a sidetrip to Mammoth) and find out. If Snow Summit is so averse to DH/FR, i'll just ride elsewhere. There's far more challenging trails locally anyhow.

Are you guys saying that you just ride the fire roads down? Is there legal single track that comes down from the top of the lift?

Isnt there a way to do some sort of co-op, you know bikers owning the bike park?

I would be down with that, there has got to be some place in Socal we could do it right?

That sounds like a great idea!

BUT all it take is one jackass to sue and game over! Sad but true.#-o

There are legal s/t trails down from the lift (U/L Fall Line and Pirates come to mind). The problem is that -as I recall- nothing is marked, so natually dh/fr guys (... including one or two jokers on this thread. ;) ) will opt for the more challenging routes

the fireroads up there are great if their not gnarly enough for you, just let go of the brakes, yeeeeeehaaaaaaa. Fall line and pirates are legal trails and are pro caliber sick ass DH single tracks. If you ride the unauthorized trails your a dick, cuz the legal stuff is a real hoot!

It would be like a "dh country club" we would have to pay into it to ride and before hand you would have to sign a contract not a "waiver" saying if you were injured you could not sue.

Also if you were part owner of said park it would not be in your best interest to sue

I like your thinking, and it may work. However, I think the waiver would not really protect anyone, and it may always seem to be in "your best interest" for some to sue. It is a sad state.

    Big Bear Trails

One and all must remember that ALL RIDING OUTSIDE of SNOWSUMMIT's property line is not a part of SNOWSUMMIT,but those riders that ride the illegal trails are PART of the reason why we CAN'T ride on SNOWSUMMIT.
