LAKE FOREST – A 47-year-old man died after he was struck in a hit-and-run crash along Serrano Road Tuesday night.Sheriff's officials said a witness saw a white van leaving the area, and investigators are now asking for the public's help to identify the driver of the van, who fled after the 47-year-old bicyclist was hit.

The crash was reported at 10:11 p.m. near the intersection of Serrano Road and Ridge Route, said Lt. Jim England of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The vehicle, described only as a white van, was spotted leaving the crash northbound on Serrano Road, he said.
Paramedics took the bicyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, England said.
The sheriff's Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to contact 855-TIP-OCCS or 855-847-6227.
The identity of the bicyclist has not been released.

I think we need to register people with white vans just as we register child molesters. Better yet, outlaw white vans because it's only a matter of time before they're involved in a crime.

    Of course, I'm just kidding.

this happens way too often. so sorry for his friends and family. i hope he had lights. i almost ran into a guy who was riding on arrow hwy with no lights at 9pm and wearing black. i saw him when i was about 15 ft away and there is no shoulder or bike lane through that section; luckily there was no one in the lane next to me when i swerved to miss him. when i ride at night i have a minimum of two flashing red lights and at least two front lights as well. if you ride at night, please try to be as conspicuous as possible.

When I'm on my bike, all I ask is that people give me the same respect they would if I was in a cement truck.

I live not too far away and heard lots of sirens last nite. At lunch today, I drove by and saw all the flare dust. After that, I saw this thread. So sad, and so cowardly. I'll be looking out for damaged white vans.

Happened to drive by over the weekend. There is a bit of a memorial and a ghost bike.

If the van had stuck around and reported it he'd have gotten off with NO CHARGES. This is not opinion, but rather historical precedence.
