What insurance company do you have that has this attached . I was always under the impression this was an additional cost of insurance ??

At this time Blue Cross insurance. But the company I work for changes insurance every couple years, and I always call the new Insurance Co and get the same anwser. If it's a medical evac, it is covered same as an ambulance.
Being a Mtb rider, this is an important benefit IMO.

Hope the rider down is OK.

Hope the rider is doing better and on a good start to a full recovery.

Definitely reassuring knowing most major plans should cover it but always good to check. I've seen some of the prices regular ambulance rides can get billed at and depending on the agency/department/company I'd imagine air lifts could be pretty pricey.

they don't need to remove those jumps, they just need to FIX them. the faces are way too short for the speed of that hill. the jumps would actually be safer if they were bigger. that being said, i'm just glad there are some "jumps" at all - so i'm certainly not complaining.

and yes, the wind gets especially tricky in that area....

Too bad the rider himself or his friends has not chimed in. I am thinking of riding there for the first time today, taking it easy on that section of course!

Rox- wasn't that where Brian took a spill when we did our SS group ride last year? Sure looks like it.

If you really need help, the San Bernardino County Sheriffs SAR has a Jolly Green that can winch you off the side of the hill. Twice I have been involved with hang glider rescues and both times they saved a life, for free yet. You have probably seen it on local news. Also there is club memberships with private helivac as well.

I'm almost certain a heli rides are covered by taxes. I was extracted at night from DP Hills (Helicopter had to spot me and fireman recovered me) and a buddy of mine broke his neck on SJT about 4 months ago and was lifted out. Both adventures covered by taxes. The ambulance ride (they don't fly you to hospital, but to a waiting ambulance) is not covered.

Here's hoping for a quick recovery to the injured rider. Amazing that they've plowed Oaks into a network of boulevard sized fireroads, yet still have the need to call in airlifts for this sort of thing.

  11. yeah, the third picture looks like it's windy.

It's amazing how much air those rotors move.

I thought that was one reason why they widened everything too. I guess it was more for fire breaks though.

socalMX you don't have to take those jumps. They are in the road, and you can easily just go around at speed. Two rides ago I almost endo'd right there, but I'm no good at jumping.

It is rather ironic, isn't it?

Anyway hope the rider is doing ok too, and they don't end up taking these out!
