I was riding Oaks/Chutes today mid day with my kids, we climbed up chutes and they hung out and took a break while i took a few practice runs down the rocks and practiced a few times over the table tops - trust me I dont jump that well. So the kids were ready to go down and we all went over the jumps one more time and started to go down all the way when we stopped to watch some other riders do the jumps. First two guys hit them pretty good. Last guy hit them really good and on the last jump he just totally turned to his right side in the air, got lots of air, overshot the jump, and basically landed on his right side. Bad...

I ran over and he was moaning and basically unconscious and rigid, I was super worried, I flagged down his buddies otherwise they would have been gone down the trail, they returned to help him out. Luckily after about 2 minutes he came to and was able to move all extremities, now I was relieved for the guy. But he still really hurt his shoulder, not sure how but he could not even sit up. We hung out for around 10 minutes, his buddies ended up calling for a medivac and we ended up leaving and going to the car. Below is a photo of the helicopter getting ready to land. Healing vibes, hope you are ok if you are reading this. This is a reminder of why I stay within a few feet of the ground.

Thanks for the report. I came across the scene as the rider was being rescued and didn't hear much about his condition.

Healing vibes to the dude. I was there around 11ish. Easy to take for granted what you can get hurt on, hope he's not banged up to badly.

Do you by chance know what time did this happened? Like I said was up there around between 11-12, wasn't really keeping track of the time. I saw a big group about to drop into chutes, I was on my delirium and decided to take advantage of the gap between riders and sneak my run in. Right before I dropped in I heard one of them say something to the effect "all you have to do is just go straight".

I would say it was about 12:30. So you might have been there. On our way up a guy came down with a bloody face. Tough day out there

Luke, Skyungjae was talking about the helicopter ride; I don't know but I know I wouldn't want the bill.

ya i hear ya, its going to cost. But there was no way the guy to could walk down. And now that I think of it you never know about internal injuries and bleeding, concussion/maybe broken ribs- who knows. So getting to the hospital fast was probably a good call.

IMO, that jump is too abrupt for the speed generated from that hill. I usually have my shock/fork settings to plush from the rock garden above, and by the time I hit that mound, all momentum just gets compressed into the take-off, and I get launched in some random direction.

OCFA helo is free, kinda, you pay your taxes right. Its just like getting a fire engine at your house when you call 911. We are lucky to be in a county that has this service.
