Is anyone going to be near Lake Havasu after Thansgiving and interested in racing this 6 hour race? I will probably race the 6 hour solo unless someone wants to race as a 2 man team with me.

looks like fun and a good way to burn off some Turkey day calories.

who has ridden the course before. The notes say it is not for novice riders and I was just wondering what to expect from it and how it compares to other places? Would a Hardtail single speed be cool (one bike to rule them all!)

I have not ridden the course but hope to on Sunday. Nice to see that some fellow STR folks are riding. I'm on a silver Tallboy, look for me.

The course is not a hard course, no long steep climbs nothing that's real technical , but it does have a couple sand washes and lots of rocks , parts of the course has only one line because of the desert rocks, the locals have cleaned the course pretty well since first time I rode it (last year). it seams when your riding it your going up or down most of the time, I don't recall seeing any cactus near the sides of the course . it should be a good course for a single speed , the start is flat road, the first lap could be pretty chilly in the morning then warms up nice by the second lap , it rained there last week so the dirt conditions are going to be nice. hope this helps a little.

Guys, I rode two laps of the course today. Hinano is pretty accurate about the course, but there are lots of up/downs so there are not a ton of places to chill and catch you breath. Heart Attack Hill is towards the end of the loop and is extremely steep and a technical climb with many spots to have pedal strikes. The first three or four miles are easy but then goes to single track without too many places to pass. A singlespeed bike is fine, but I would consider a full suspension if you are doing the solo, there are not a lot of smooth spots as it is rugged and rocky. The 10 mile loop has about 1,000 feet of climbing but it's all up/downs. The solo is going to be tough. You have to pay attention all the time or you could easily lose it.

Thanks for the info. I am heading up there tonight after dinner and might try a slow easy pre ride tomorrow. Going to ride the single with a nice easy gear and try to be consistent for the 6 hour time frame.

I'll look for ya on a singlespeed on Sat morning. I have a raw colored Tallboy and a white Ford Explorer. Look for me. Weather has been great out here all week. Safe travels.

Great course and all the descriptions were right, there was never a section to take a breath and relax. It was a great single speed course with most of the climbing not to steep and no real flat sections. I was hoping for 7 laps till about the time I completed my 5th and really wanted the time to run out. I was able to complete 6 in 6:15 finishing in 4th place so not to bummed about that. Already planning on coming back next year to do a little better and my wife wants to improve her time in the run which was also an insane course, 4.5 miles with 1400 feet of climbing.

Guess we didn't see each other out there. Looks like I finished in 5th right behind you for the 45+ age group. I'm thinking Counting Coup will be easier than this course! My buddies won the duo race, they were flying! Overall it was a great day and the weather was absolutely perfect!!
