The humorous name aside, I've been hearing lots of good things about this tire. I'm considering a 2.4 up front and either 2.2/2.4 in back. I hear they run pretty true to size, huge volume, grip like a mother in hardpack, and roll fairly fast.

Has anyone tried these? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger for these to put on 5-Spot that sees general trail riding duty.

I have not tried that particular tire but I have used the Conti Diggas and they were good tires. I swapped them out for some Kenda kinetics just to try something different.

    I'm all about whats on sale/closeout ..

    how much are the Queens?

BikeBling has em for $40, which is a good deal these days for a quality tire. Plus you can get 10% off using code REALDEAL - they're in Escondido (San Diego) which is close to me so I can just cruise by.

Might have to give these a try.

    Rubber Queen 2.4/UST

    Big and small queen.

Extra soft Black Chili compound makes our Rubber Queen 2.4 one hot chica! It’s phenomenal grip on even wet rocks and roots is just captivating. The side walls of our Rubber Queen are cushioned with an apex. This special form not only protects against punctures tubes but stabilizes tyres when you really push the tyres hard into corners. Brake, drop, push the curve – the Rubber Queen never bails out. For it not to remain a mere flirtation the Rubber Queen is the faithful type.

I have heard great things. Probably my next tire as well. I think they changed the name to Trail King.

I dunno. I kinda like something with more center knob for less rolling resistance.

Good tires for heavy AM/light FR. You can get the regular 2.4" and mount it tubeless. Only 850g. Huge volume. Same width as 2.5" Minions. Thick sidewalls.

The UST version is 1150g, which is close to 2-ply range. Too heavy for me. I rather mount Minions if I go this heavy.

Not the same story for the 2.2" non-UST version. Thinner sidewalls, and beads are porous. Gave up trying to convert tubeless after 3-4 tries.

I ran a rubber queen in back for a while. Pretty good. Cornered great, a bit more rolling resistance than a nevagal. My biggest problem was that I was constantly tearing off the knobs. I probably had four or five missing by the time I switched it out.

    Good Luck.

I just ordered a set from bikebling at $39.99 each + 10% off. I got the 2.4 non-UST version. Looking forward to trying a new tire, I've run Nevegals only for the past 2 years.

Hit La Costa today with 2.4 Queen up front and 2.35 Maxis HighRoller in rear - WOW! Killed it today.

Blasted to the top with huge grip from the HR. I'd been running it up front for more than year, but I've had a few people tell me it's even better setup on the rear. They weren't kidding! Got more grip than anything I've run back there. Only thing I noticed was that the big side knobs deflected a bit more than smaller tires I'm used to running back there. Not a big issue, just different. Grippy going up and very predictable in fast turns where other tires broke away sooner.

The Rubber Queen however was the star, incredible tire. First off, the 2.4 (non-UST) is massive! My buddy was blown away how big it looked, not just wide but huge volume. Rolls beautifully and corners like a mother. The big volume made my fork and front end feel even cushier than usual. Handled everything from hardpack climb to huge chunk and everything in between with no problems.

Now I'm waiting for my HR to wear out so I can drop a Rubber Queen on the back. Highly recommend this tire!

Has anyone run the Rubber Queen 2.4 (non-UST) as a tubeless setup? I have been using 2.3 Nevegals(non-UST) without any problems, have heard the Rubber queens don't work as well.

WTF!!! I thought the rubber queen had been rebadged as the Mountain King! I found out the hard way-it wasn't. Any xc dudes want to trade some decent AM style rubbers for some used once 2.2 superfast rolling mtn. kings?

rebadged as the Trail King. I found out the hard way, by placing a order on bikebling.com. When my order came, I had 2 Trail Kings in my hands. I called bikebling and they said for 2010 the Rubber Queen is now the Trail King. Tires are the same as before, just a new name.
