Heya guys, been idle for awhile. I've met a couple of you on a ride at Aliso a couple months ago (I ride a black IH 7point7). I have since moved to Pasadena due to work reasons.. So I'm in a totally unfamilliar area looking for people to ride with and places to ride.

Anyone ride up this way regularly? I know there are a ton of trails up off highway 2 but I have yet to explore any. Anyone have suggestions to check out for good technical riding, or just flat out awesome singletrack? Maybe some moderate paced group rides someone knows about?

Let me know. Itching to get back on the dirt.

Epic Riders ride that area every tuesday after work, some before work rides and many weekends.

I ride that area when it is not hot. Get a map Tom Harrison
and start exploring, be prepared to climb.

Good start is Mt. Lowe Fireroad (Altadena) it has access to the Sam Merrill's and Sunset. Or park at Lake St. and climb Lower Merrill. Tons of stuff out there, you are lucky to live in Pasadena.

We ride on Sat mornings in that area. Last week we did Sunset trail & El Pierto (sic) single track. We shuttled it with a truch & had loadsof fun. Let me know if you'd be up for weekend excursions...

ya epic riders at ermtb.com will definitely hook u up with the trails in san gabreil mtn like the strawberry peak, sunset, chilao, jpl, etc. they r nice ppl and they have group ride every weekend and every tuesday nite at 530pm they ride jpl. go check them out.

www.geoladders.com has a ton Pasadena routes you can try. Many of them are quite technical though so make sure your skills are where they should be and that you have someone with whom you can ride. Good luck.

Sweet, thanks for all the replies. I knew there is tons of stuff up this way, but I hadn't started any research into it yet, and now I have lots of good places to start.

I think I might try to make it out for one of the Epic Riders ride this week, sounds like fun.

But yeah, I totally love the area so far.. Been doing a ton of riding around on the road just checking the area out and looking for hills to climb. Endless fun. :)

This is the only pic I have online at the moment:

The upgrades I've done on it thus far, are:
saddle, WTB pureV
seatpost clamp, Salsa QR (gotta have QR)
bars, holzfeller 28" risers (stock bars were too narrow for my likes)
pedals, crank bros mallets
stem, hope 65mm (stock one was too long)

Plus I have some Juicy7's on the way for it, which should complete the upgrades.

Thanks. I love the thing.. Its the perfect compliment to the 7.7 :)

Yeah, I kept the stock headset. You can give it a run next time I see you and I have it with me.. That old stem I felt a little stretched when I kept my hands on the bars for a bit. This one feels alot better.
