:-kI believe you're right. My point was, however, that the Giro people are allright and will take care of their customers.

I crashed my Ford a month ago. God damn don't you know Ford would not replace it with a new one. Last time I buy a Ford.:)

I cracked my helmet back in Nov. I emailed Giro about the crash replacement and they told me I can send it in and get 30% off. I looked and say that I could get the helmet for the same price after the discount from my LBS so I just went and bought it. I am not sure how big of a discount you expected but 30% off is pretty good for items that you cant find for a good discount.

    Same experience with Giro

My Roc-Loc broke after 3 yrs of use. I emailed Giro to see what they can offer me and wouldn't you know it, Giro replaced my helmet for free. The only thing stipulation was Giro didn't have the Xen in the same color. Who cares, I'm getting a free helmet.

On another note, I did crash and crack my helmet on another occasion. I saw the crash replacement policy so I called Giro. The guy told me what it was and said you're better off going to the LBS to get another one which I did. Great service in my opinion.

I think the point is that Ford didn't lead you to believe otherwise. A better analogy would be if you bought a Ford with the understanding that their loyalty program would somehow get you a better deal when you traded it in for a new Ford. Then, when you're ready to trade it in, you have to pay the same price (or more) than the average Joe.

I started saving my busted helmets about 6 years ago. I have them all lined up on a shelf like old trophys. I call it the shelf of hard knocks.
