It's time again to sign up for this years Amtrak Century.

Registration opens this Friday at 7:00 am at the Orange County Wheelmen website www.ocw.org and will probably be completely filled by 9:00 am.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 9th.

Who's riding this year?

Got ripped off. The stupid website wouldn't accept a credit card payment and I tried till it was full. Now I understand the payment in the mail section did work. There are tons of pissed off people. I'll miss you this time Adam.

Then again we may just poach the ride. Park a car down in Diego and drive back after the ride.It really sux as some of us have done it as a group for 7 years running.OCW seems indifferent when I talked to them later in the day. The guy says"Oh well, these things happen".

I spent an hour this morning trying to make the cc payment, and finally went the the mail in payment route after I saw the list of registered riders getting up there.

They seriously need to get a new credit card processing site for next year. There will probably be another round of pissed off riders if they they try to strictly enforce the 7 day rule for receipt of the checks, since mail service won't happen on Tuesday and some people's checks might get delayed.

I think they are opening up a wait list on the 15th. Hopefully you'll be able to get in then.

I'm doing it solo this year (no tandem) to see how fast I can get down to SD.

I've done it twice now as fast as I could (not a lot of fun). And the first time was 6 hours the last time I tried was 5.5 hours. I'm a little faster then I was then, but I don't have fun when I do it that way.Loses the vibe and when I get to the wharf I'm dead tired and just want to go home. I have to sit there for the next 4+ hours waiting for the rest of the people to finish.
