I've had a problem with my garmin losing a ride. It happened when my USB cable was faulty. Instead of closing the ride my garmin got reset and the ride was gone.

My Garmin was dumping rides too. Garmin suggested that I update the firmware. Since doing it so it has worked flawlessly.

If it wasn't logged, it never happened.

Hey guys. I know you can gpx to a garmin to follow other users routes however since i use my android to record, is it possible to load routes to the android phone instead?

Check out My Tracks from Google. You can load tracks on to My Drive and I think download to your phone with real time location.

^^ I tried this and created a google drive account and have my tracks on my phone. downloaded strava gpx to my google drive and sync'd however the app doesn't have anywhere to show the file . Not sure if this is the best way.

I downloaded a gpx from another user onto my pc desktop. Within the strava website, I uploaded this gpx file to the strava website account. Now accessing the app on my phone, there's nowhere to see or follow this route? Can this only be done using garmin, etc. I"d like to only use my phone if possible as that's how I track things now.

Does Strava have a separate category for Cyclocross rides? If not, I'm starting to think there should be one. I haven't ridden one, but it seems like on anything other than the smoothest descents crossers are at a disadvantage, but on hard-packed XC and climbs it's really apples to oranges - they seem much faster.

    Wondering what others think.

I may be wrong, but I didn't think there were different leaderboards for the same segment depending on if done on a road or mountain bike. Example Modjeska Grade Rd, mix of mountain and (much faster) roadies in the leaderboard. Or maybe there's another reason you are thinking there should be Cx type(?)

Makes sense.....I think I would be much quicker up the 3 B's at Oaks if I was riding a bike with 32mm Cross Tires on it.

Sure, there would be crossover on some segments, but then again if the users are correctly recording which bike they used, that could be accounted for and there could be a separate road/mtb/cross leaderboard. Strava has separate leaderboards available for men, women, all riders, my history, people I'm following...this doesn't seem that difficult to account for.

I'll never be quick up the B's, but Blackstar, Maple Springs, Mustard, etc sure seem like they'd be faster to climb on 32mm vs 2.2" tires!

Someone has marked The Luge as 'HAZARDOUS", therefore, you can no longer view the leaderboard. LAME!!!! Also, everytime I upload my ride 5-10 more segments pop up. Now there are 100 segments or more for every ride with most of them are repeats. SUPER LAME!!! Strava is getting ridiculous.

Strava's not lame, it's the idiots that keep flagging rides! Ultimately the frivolous lawsuit that brought this flagging thing on in the first place was the lamest of all. I agree though; the whole thing sucks!
Luckily for me, nobody really gives a crap about any of my local segments out here in BF Palmdale - lol

So today I uploaded my entire garmin to strava. Turns out on one of my rides a few months ago I had forgotten to turn it off, then drove my car home through live oak canyon.

    I got in trouble!! ;)

Just wait, CHP will start monitoring your GPS from the NAV on your car, every time you exceed the speed limit you will get a ticket in the mail...

Agreed. I use that little "star" button over on the left of the segment to mark the ones that are not flagged that I pay attention to, the rest I ignore. There are probably 5-10 different Luge segments out there now, all with different starting and ending points.

I tried that, but then more segments pop up. F'ing ridiculous. They should have 1 true "strava" segment and if you want to create your own then it should only show up on your screen. Oh yeah, and these "other" stravassholes need to get a life rather than sit around flagging shit.

I created one of the Luge segments several years ago & of course it got flagged when that guy went flagging everything crazy rampage. So I thought I'd do my part & delete my created Luge segment & Strava won't let me do anything to it!
