I was feeling really productive until all this rain came, not to mention my trip out of town. It's too bad the rides on the trainer don't contribute but I suppose that would defeat the purpose of a climbing competition.

I finished putting together the routes for the 2011 OC Endurance Challenge.

    Four Stages:

    Blackstar - Motorway
    Harding - Holy Jim
    Holy Jim Trabuco
San Juan Trail (Up and down)

    http://app.strava.com/events/130/news

The challenge runs from April 1 to May 31.

Who's up for some friendly competition.

Sounds fun. What do you have to do to add the event (out of curiosity)? The Stava help says you should just be able to add them, but I don't see how.

Another fun stage-type event would be a tour of orange county parks where we pick 1-2 courses from each of the major OC parks (Santiago Oaks, Peters, O'Neil, Whiting, Aliso Woods, etc.) over a three or four month period.

You have to be part of the STR club on Strava. Then, you go to the competition page and there will be a join button in the top left hand area. Click that and you are done!

    To Eric...

Do you know if, after the competition starts, there will be results? Will we be able to know who the winner is throughout the event and know their times or is it all anonymous and no times posted until the event is over?

Sorry - my question wasn't clear - If I wanted to add an event to Strava, how does one go about doing that? I have been trying to figure out how to add a team training event, but I can't figure out how to add events. The Help in Strava says there is a button, but I can't seem to find it on the events page.

I already joined the stage race. This should be fun.

I've never done any of those stages - and don't see myself getting all done by the end of May. But we'll see.

Game on. Thanks Eric for doing this. This seems pretty ambitious for the first STR Strava race, hopefully I can work this into some Traverse training.

Next year I will be doing a year-long challenge with one trail per month over the whole county.

"Do you know if, after the competition starts, there will be results? Will we be able to know who the winner is throughout the event and know their times or is it all anonymous and no times posted until the event is over?"

As soon as the event starts there will be another tab at the top with a results page. Results will be for each stage and for the total.

Even though I live north of LA, everyday, I see more and more Strava road and MTB users. It's secretly making me go faster. HA

Just signed up for Strava. Its pretty cool so far. Ive been on geoladders for a while before STR i think.

Edit: Ah, I just figured out how to view the challenges. Wow that makes it a big winner in my book. Really cool.

    +1 Strava

Sounds fun. I signed up under STR and for the KOM.
This Strava thing is pretty cool. Kinda neat to have some times to shoot for. Some of those times are ridiculously quick!
Not fast and don't get to ride on the trails regularly, but I make sure to enjoy it when I can.
The endurance challenge sounds like fun, but doing all four within May? oh boy...

^^^ If I get enough new participants, I might be convinced to add a month so everyone has time to complete the stages.

I can even add a stage if anyone thinks it's too easy.

I just ran across this today. Definitely looks interesting. But there's no way I'll be able to do it all by May 31st, so hopefully you decide to extend. I just signed up. Looks like othes need more time too... :)

Nice. My geoladders membership is coming due and I was thinking about moving over to strava. I figure I can still use gl to find routes but strava will catch on nationally and won't be so OC centric.
