    Oops! You're right. My bad. I was thinking of of a stretch of pavement further on. By the way, the trailhead was dusted by snow, at the top in last weeks storm. We saw a few small drifts that hadn't melted yet. Also saw Tom the Bomb and Rojomas, both up there for a cold morning ride. By the way, Merry Christmas everyone!!! -Lloyd :wave:

    Yea, it's linked through the local newspaper, which accounts for the ads I believe. I originally read it this morning in the paper at breakfast although I didn't find the ads obnoxious enough to lust after! ;) (j/k) -Lloyd :wave:

    I remember that stretch you're talking about well--San Gabriel Canyon. It was relatively flat but in some ways was the hardest part of the ride as you had to be disciplined not to burn yourself up and realize you were working hard even though you weren't going that fast because of the headwind. I didn't like the traffic on San Gabriel Canyon in spots, but it sure is beautiful out there--makes it worth braving that little stretch in order to piece together the loop.
