Looks like we are going up at the Butt Crack of dawn on Friday.

Look for me when your getting your bikes weighed, , Paul (Bionicon) asked if I'd be up for helping with the weigh ins. Sounded good to me.

Can't wait! Campers coming down the hill with us Sunday.

Hopefully there's some short easy trails that Maddie & myself could ride too.

Would any of you guys/gals know what is the nearest town to the race course? I thought about dry camping but w/the family going I think it's better to stay in a hotel/motel... or the nearest campsite w/running water. Thanks

    Wow

Lots of action since I last checked.

It looks like many of you are going to be up here mid-day Friday. I guess I need to find someone to watch the little ones so I can ride Friday afternoon as well.

Justin, Dell is correct. I am not very tall. I am such an anti 29r that I specifically designed all of the stunts to make 29rs crash. You will have a very rough go on the lunch box. Speaking of "box" it sounds like I better make sure Justin and Dell stay in separate rooms:lol:. I suppose all you really need is something with a slack head angle. Here is something for Justin to get excited about.

Hey Steve, I will see you in Keysville on Thursday around 3:15. I am bringing the trailer and setting it up for Mic. We can decide what we want to do after that. It is Thursday so my normal group will be coming over.

If I can get out of Airport pickup duty... (the GF has known I've had this planned for almost 2 months now) I'm going to try to get up there by noon on Friday, for whatever is needed, pre rides, setup, pubfesting at the micro brewery for dinner, etc. I'll be dirt camping in Keyesville like last time.
Saturday is reserved for weighing in and certifying bikes, per Posthole's request as a honorary Newbie Bioniconer. I've been upping the ante the past few weeks with lots of climbing and single track, getting ready for some more fun.

Does anyone know the official story on USAC licenses...do you need one to race Keyesville or not? I called Jason Smith (race director) and am awaiting a call back. We have heard conflicting stories (yes, you need one vs. no, you don't)...

    Thanks :)

I met with Jason a few weeks ago. The story then was that experts and pros only would need a licence. I don't know if anything has changed since then...

What if you are expert in one class (DH) and sport in another (XC)...as is my situation?? And, I wanted to do the stage race...

I'm confused about what to do...

For the stage race, you must compete at the same category in all three events, on the same bike.

Yes, I knew about having to race all three in the same category...

What I am wondering is if I am in two different levels according to USAC, will the Keyesville organizers make me race expert or sport for all the stage events? Since two of the three races are "xc-like", I would assume that I should race sport.

That's complicated. Hopefully Jason will get back to you tomorrow.

I don't think there currently exists an "all mountain" rating within the USAC that would apply in this situation.
