Keyesville is one of the best races the Southwest has to offer. It's a great event for beginners to compete in a family oriented venue. Even veterans will enjoy the grassroots style harkening back to the late 80's to early 90's when racing was all about having fun on fantastic trails.

The DH course is old school without all of the manmade jumps, gaps and doubles you see in other events. The Snakepit is where it's at for the spectators to see who has the cojones to rail through the boulders at breakneck speed.

Don't worry about the kids getting bored. This is a great place for them to explore the campground, hang out at the observed trials to watch those guys with their amazing skills, or even enter them into the kids' race.

And last, but certainly not least, don't forget the Vintage bike race. Who needs disc brakes and suspension forks with 5-8" of travel? We'll be on the early bikes that started it all, racing the DH, ShortTrack and XC courses. There's always someone on a fully rigid bike that could take the field in any of the events against the modern machines.

And don't be surprised if you see a well known pro line up for competition. One year we had Marla Streb showing us how to get the job done in both DH and XC. Good times...

Who's heading up friday morning? I'd like to preride the course before racing it, especially the downhill. Carpool or caravan anyone?

Option #1: Take the day off, get up to K'ville early enough to preride/check out the xc. Dan meets me up there in early evening so we only have to drive one car home.

Option #2: Work a full day. Drive up to meet Dan at the 10/15 junction. Drive up to K'ville. Arrive late evening.

Option #3: Take the day off, drive up to meet Dan as said in #2. I won't gain anything from this option since it'll be dark by the time we get there.

Dean, Scott and I (among others) are planning on doing rides both days I think. You are welcome to join us on either or both. You don't have to decide until you get here though. There will be plenty of options.

    Jeff,

Lynn, Scott and I are talking Friday off, should be up there mid-afternoon...maybe if it works out we can get in a lap at the race coarse.

Guero is actually thinking about coming up...would be nice to have him around.

Maybe just a nasty rumor, but I've heard the geometry of Sherm Parks' features is optimized for 26" wheels, virtually guaranteeing a discombobulated, no-flow run on larger hoops, regardless of skill level ;).

Bike looks great, Justin. Stars aligned in my favor, so looks like I'll be seeing it in person next weekend :bang:. Despite my earlier stab, think I can ride your 'Box?
