Indeed, I tie 'em. I have a large collection of "road kill" tying material. But I digress, the whole area around Kernville /Keyesville is just a really cool place to do lots of wonderful outdoor sports. I have lots of great memories from the area of awesome trips in the outdoors. This is just icing on the cake. Last time I was at Kern River Brewery early November, Kanga was airing video he shot that day on his laptop off of Just Outstanding, The Cave and Dutch Flat.

For the Rich, there's Therapy, for the rest of us, there's Fly Fishing.

Can you explain vintage? I'm assuming it's other than the Stage race (XC, ST & DH).

    Thanks

Vintage is the class. Older bikes (not sure how old they have to be, maybe 10+ years old?).

Classes are from 10-19 years and 20+
    Here's some info:
    http://www.ssfta.com/vintage-race.html

I'm not sure how strict they are on the setup.
I've seen plenty of Judys and even V-brakes on one bike from pics of the corral from previous years. I'll be risking ridicule with my 2k manitou fork and CK headset. Some bikes look like as they were straight off the showroom. Some will frown on you for not running rigid. Bottom line, it's more of a vintage gathering with racing thrown in. It's like riding a SS, it's not about the speed, its about the challenge.

Holy Crap... I'm actually gonna do another race!
This should be a welcome reward for all the pain I'm putting myself thru training for the CC.
My buddy and I should be living in style in his RV.

I haven't decided on racing or hanging out yet... but I'm leaning towards racing. It would make all those 80+ mile weeks I've been putting in mean something! Problem is, which event/s? The stage race intrigues me, as I raced the all-mountain expert category at Downieville, and this is being done similarly with bike weigh-ins. Since I only have one bike, that makes it easy for me to qualify!

    Decisions.... decisions.... :-k

This event has been in my calendar for more than 6 months. I'm not a racer. Just wanted to camp and enjoy riding some of the great trails in the area.

But unfortunately, work travel has shot-down my plans. I need to fly out of LA on Saturday.

If any others have interest in a 2-3 day MTB/camping trip later in the year, I'd like to join. The more remote the camping, the better IMHO.

Ben, anyone can camp there for free. There are no hook ups but there is plenty of room out there. You can just park your RV and set up camp. If you want hook ups there are a few campgrounds on the river in Kernville that have them. PM me if you want more info on that.

Dry camping I assume refers to the fact that there's no running water, though there are pit toilets. Bring water! For a more comfy experience there are paid campgrounds within a few miles along Lake Isabella.

    Ditto

We dry camp all the time, just bring a generator to if your worried about power. If you are bringing a camper?

We're going to bring the pop-up, not as nice as the beast but easier to tow. Small fridge, heater, places to sleep and a coffee maker (ALWAYS).

Ben, dry camp  I promise fun will be had by all

Haven't registered yet, but we're about 85% in. We'll be staying in town (thanks J!!) but will have an Ez-up for the days more than likely, heater, cooler, etc.

We'll be bringing a few EZ-ups too. Now I need to add an out of the camper heater to my list. We had 2 of them at Temecula they saved us when it got cold.
