Tip I should have used last week:

Baggie full of crushed ice under the jersey. My tights...er...shorts have a radio pocket on the lower back that use to hold onto it. I say keep it in a baggie 'cuz you don't want the chamois feeling like you just went for a swim, and after it melts, you can break ti out and dump it on your head after about half the race.

Today will be painful. I'll pretend I'm the sweeper in a massively large group ride. Makes my last place finish seem ... noble.

What Denmother said, good luck to everyone racing.

I had a great time watching everyone race last week. Hope to be out there watching you all race next week.

it certainly was. landed on so cal's largest cactus farm right before the cottonwoods. was in a great place, making great time. right where i needed to be. once there was a big enough break in racers to walk through the singletrack to the cars, i was gone. picked out what i could and still working on it.

Well this is was the last race I'm shooting as I'm racing next week in Beginner 2. Don't worry all you B2's out there, I'm a MUCH better photographer then bike rider lol. Here are a few sneak peaks, I'll post up again when they are all up on my site.

Thanks to everyone for always putting on a great show for the camera, I hope you guys enjoyed the photos as much as I did taking them of you. See you next week! I'll be the guy in the back.

Went out there for the first time today with my brother high rev photo to do a pre-run for next weeks race. Hopefully the heat cools down by next week. If you're in B2 and falling back in the pack, I'll be more than welcome to keep you company haha. Going downhill on a 38 lb bike is fun, going up ... not so much lol.

OK.....the biggest cramp ever experienced by any man, woman, or child, just woke me up out of a deep sleep!! Thought I took in enough water/cytomax/ Enduralite/Heed/beer to fill a Sparkletts bottle, but it obviously wasn't enough.
Guess my body's not built to race in 90+ degree days.

Went out and watched tonite, looks like I'll have to miss the entire season. Finally met a few of the STR crowd - Dino, Vlad and some others. Saw a kid in a green helmet go down pretty big heap by the waterfall. He did get back up and kept gpoing. Think I saw highrev and bro pedalling with some packs out on the course.
The movie screening was pretty cool$

Wow. I sooo sucked last night. Heat was really bad first lap but then it cooled off nicely. Previous race I was passing everyone on the climbs. Last night everyone was passing me. Even the tarantula was faster. That sandy drop on the first half of the loop was giving me uber issues. Two cool things though:

    1) Got to meet Dino and the rest of the STR crowd there.
    2) Successfully nailed that little uphill hump after the switch-backs near the end of the loop all three times.

So net , net - it was absolutely fantastic!!! Every mountain bike race is. And the folks at OTH totally kick ass! Still think they should lead USA Cycling!

I went out for my first race and made it about 1/4 of one lap... tore the derailleur right off while trying to pass someone who stalled out in front of me.... oh well, it was fun to watch

PS I think I may have coasted past a photographer while scootering my bike back in... fingers crossed hahahaha

I was the best damn leg marker this series has ever seen. (well......there were two guys in sports class that got a mangled "S2" on their leg)

I definitely want top 5 now Dino. I had a great pace that if kept, would have netted me 6th or so. I'm starting to evaluate my goals for next season. I've had a lot of fun with this. Brings me back to bmx as a kid, but a lot less pressure.

Here is the most important question bout Over The Hump. Not whos the fastest, is it too hot, the course layout, who are the sponsors, etc. The question is: When will Dino race?

While his photographic and posting skills are unmatched, and while MTB racing has benefited from his recruiting efforts, given his form and MTB skills, he could certainly smoke a number of riders.

    So Dino?
