I'll be there, but in disguise. I'll dress up as a really good, in shape pro. Maybe let some sideburns grow....

Since I'm at a conference all week next week in New York I took another vacation day yesterday to pre-ride the Fontana XC course (didn't do a single Winter Series race and still have a couple of carry-over days from last year - will use last carry-over day at Santa Ynez).

The XC course is great as always! Started to get sandy in a couple of places but nothing too major. Still the great smooth flowing Fontana singletrack. Just one sketchy section on the far side singletrack, a left turn over a small ravine. The one with the little ramp-up immediately after the turn. Not sure if it was like that a while but seems serious eroded. You could see the planks (or plank) that bridges the ravine. One line only the width of a tire remains. Same as you exit the turn. You miss the line and you are in the ravine. Fine when you nail it alone, bottleneck with hundreds or riders on the course.

Saw Ty and the folks from Shoair there again yesterday prepping the course, taking off some of the grass in the overgrown sections. Thanks guys!

    See you all next Sunday!!!

vlad... that corner got eroded in the storms and has been that way for all the races of the winter series. i haven't had any problems to date (even with traffic of cat2 and cat3 riders in the winter series) but it might have gotten worse since then.

this should be an excellent race! looking forward to it!!!!!:bang:

Not looking good, have to see how things work schedule wise. I just found out i have to leave on Sun for a work trip. I wasnt trilled on having to likely miss Fri Practice and only having a handful of hours to practice on the next few days but now that may not matter.

Hey all you Super D guys, how long does the shuttle take to get to the top. Reason I ask is my buddy wants to do Pro short track, then haul ass up the hill to super D. Shorttrack is 15 minutes so 45 should be plenty of time to get changed and his bike loaded and up there, yea?

If I'm looking at this right, is the Cat 2/3 course the same as the Winter Series xc course? (can't compare them side by side at the moment)

Seems it is exactly the same (though I didn't race the Winter series - based upon gps comparisons).

Planning on being there for Cat3 XC and Super D.

Any details on the Super D course? Anyone know if it will be marked and open for riding Friday or Saturday?

Unless EC gets the reins for the Super D I am sad to think its going to be more XC then DH and the fact that its the last event of the weekend, who is sticking around?;)
I want to race it so hopefully I have a chance to see the course before I decide...

As of now i will have no involvement with the Super D and at this point i will busy all week until Friday so i won't have time to physically lay something out.

I was out yesterday trying to give the 4x a small facelift... mostly building up the 3rd turn to hold more then one rider.... built up one of the lower berms and a few small jump changes.

I am sure that the Super D will be like the last few Team Big Bear races. Those of you that like to climb will love it! Mass start, run down to your bike, find it and start climbing! Too bad that EC' not doing this one as well!! See you all at the races!!
