I had several classes with John at CSULB in the Geography program in the late 90's. He actually rekindled my interest in MTBing. I heard he was interested in doing CC or VQ and was on the wait list. So we might see him out there.

Dress Warm for VQ & CC

I wanted to experience some of the fun you VQ & CC entrants will be having tomorrow so I rode up Maple Springs to Santiago Peak yesterday (mid day) and it got pretty cold. I had a long sleeve jersey, regular jersey & light jacket on and it was just enough. My hands got really cold. Now I'm an old guy so some of you younguns may have better circulation.:)

I just checked out the Sierra Pk temps. Its about 44, with a wind chill of 39 at 11:20 AM. Chilly. I was going to wear 3 light layers. I might need a thicker layer.

That was the most memorable part of last year's CC, for me. Watching the sun rise from the Main Divide and seeing all those clouds below me took my breath away...

OK, maybe it was all the climbing, but it sure was purdy!

Yeah I think I'm going to do the bandaid thing. My nipples were killing me at Temecula.

    Lunch & raffle?

First-timer question: What's the story on lunch at O'Neill? Seems like I remember something about Warrior's providing lunch after. Can non-participants (supporters) get food too? And is there going to be a raffle, and if so, when?

    Gracias!

I'm guessing it will be lunch by El Pollo Loco. Chicken, Corn, Rice, Beans. Is there any way Sherry we can get 2 rounds of delivery of El Pollo Loco? One early for the 4-5hours speed demons and one later for the 6-9hour turtles. B/c hopefully by the time I get in I think that food will have been sitting there for like 4-5hours+.

As far as who gets to eat it and who doesn't? I'm guessing it's for the racers first. I'd be pissed if I finished and there was no chicken left!

Catered by El Pollo Loco. In the past, it's only been for the participants, not sure this year because there is no ticket in my race packet which is what you would've handed in to get food. I'll have to defer to Sherry on that one.

Also, no raffle at this event.

The food gets there later. It's the fast riders who have to wait to eat because the food isn't there at O'Neill till later when most start to show up at the park.
