    4X format

What format are they going to use in 4x at Fontana?
I come from BMX were you run 3 heats of total points and the low point guy is the winner.
Or we use the transfer system. If you win or finish in the top two (depending on how many riders are in your class) you go straight to a semi or main event.

    Any help would be great

I wish we could say but it has been different at every race this year.

Ideally its 12 and second move one. I know they have been trying to make it different as many people got sick of paying for one run. I would say that most likely it will be top 2 move on unless they have some odd number where that wont work. They have used motos but thats for small classes like 4 or less.

That's kind of an odd choice ... guess I can't carpool with my friends who race Cat 2.

It varies. The course has a lot of rocks and can be loose in spots. I am running a 2.2 Telonix in front and a Small block eight 2.1 in the rear.

I am only going by what Donny has on his entry form. If you have any questions, I would email him directly (and please post the answer).

Per Mike Hecker the DH & 4x at the Santa Ynez Valley US Mt. Bike Cup race will require a USAC license. However his other races do not! You can check out his scheule here http://www.ridesb.com/. He is having his own race the week before Sea Otter.

I know you dont know the answer. I was more of a rhetorical question. It just the more I look at the schedule and pricing its just looks more and more that beginners and sport classes are second citizens. They get 5.5 hours of practice time where Pro/Expert gets 8 hours, making everyone pay for 3 days of shuttle when we can only use two of the days.

I would email him but I know I wont get a response. I have NEVER got a single response to any email I have ever sent.

Ok, then I will send the email!!

However, don't forget that this is also round #1 of the Rock Shox Golden State Downhill series!! It doesn't say if it is best 3 of 4 so I will ask him that question also!

First you'll have to qualify to race. So, one rider at a time will shoot down the track to try and get the best times. Here's out it breaks down:

2 fastest against the 2 slowest, top 2 moving on in the race, the other two become spectators of what I consider the greatest discipline in MTB racing. :D

So, if #1 rider qualifed 1st, #2 rider qualifed 2nd (you get the picture) the race might look like:

    1 2
    2 7
    7
    8

    3
    4 4
    5 6
    6

I would really like to see us adpot a 3 moto run with run off's for ties, then we move into the semi and finals which would really give the riders more track time for the money, but who am I?

As for the tires, these are always, like BMX, a personal preference. If you're smooth, light, and fairly experienced, go for the 1.9-2.0 tire with a small knob tire in the rear and something with a bit of bit for the front. The smaller tires will let you whip up some speed, but beware of rocks. I use larger volume 2.25 front and rear with a near semi-slick in the back. The larger volume tires give you a little extra cussion against rocks, drops, and bonks.

Hope to see you at the track!!!!:drunk:

It's more than likely been said time and time againt, but it bears repeating:

DENMOTHER is the POOOOOP!!!! YEAH! For all the information and energy you drum up for the races, I really think SHO-Air should hook Denmother up with a little something something extra. Like, since for no fault of her own, she can't hit the race at Fontucky, a chair with her name on it and a cooler of drinks.

Actually, why wait. Nancy, PM me with your favorite drinks. I'll load a cooler for your day at the races for being the awesome race chick you are.

The updated schedule says 4 laps for Cat 1 men ages 17-49. Also the start times have been moved again, 8:00, then 9:00, now 8:30.
