Going for VQ again. I should be getting my new cx bike in a few weeks and I'll have to ride it a while to see if I want to do VQ with it. If that doesn't workout I'll use my sons ht with a new wheelset.

I am not ready to try one of these yet but I would love to volunteer. Is there a way to get my name on a list so that I can?

You can email The Warriors Society at this email address.

Let them know that you are part of STR and would love to help out. Chris Vargas will get back to you with an answer and you can post the info you receive here for others who are also interested. With many of the WS club members and established volunteers are riding in the events, I'm sure they will need more volunteers. Rut will need some company at Maple Springs(1st Aid station).

I'd like to do the CC, but I think I'll be going for the VQ instead.

Can we not use the words "crash the ride"?

Or maybe we can get out on the Main Divide on dual sports...BRAAAAP!

Kudos to all of you who are going for it. I wish I were so motivated (obviously, I don't wish too much, or I would be more motivated).

For sure I can say that this year I'll be looking to do more non-fireroad training. Maybe loops at turnbull or other places semi-nearby. I totally got burnt out of santa ana training after the CC and didn't ride as much after the event.

    Non-fireroad training:

My buddy has trained for the last 3 counting coups without riding one lick in the Santa Anas. He commutes to work by bike most days and then does super loops at Aliso.

He'll make super loops up Mathis, up Cholla, up to TOW, or up Canyon Acres till he gets his climbing in. Yeah, that's a pain in the arse, but at least he gets some nice breaks of going down Rock-in, Lynx, meadows etc.

I'll be doing some variations at Aliso, Whiting, El Moro and LCWP as well. I agree, it doesn't all have to be in the Santa Ana's. For the Traverse, I went up and down Mathis 3 times just to get some climbs in without going to the Main Divide. These parks still get climbs in and saddle time needed without shuttling and with plenty of bailouts. PM me if any of you want to do some of these rides as well.
