there's quite a few people already signed up on the registration page, so you can see how many so far are registered in your class.

Carlos B. emailed me Saturday morning and since he eas the first he will be taking my registration. I'm pretty sure the people at sign-in will let him change age groups (that is if he doesn't want to race with the old guys).

    Have fun Carlos.

    • Frozen208
    • genusmtbkr5 - more than likely, but this time I'll race expert.
    • jfromlv - I'm a maybe just because it's hard for me to think that far ahead!
    • Jutty - Could be my first race...not 100% sure on attending yet though.
    • Laggdawg - Seems like this is a well attended and fun race. Any group rides prior so I can meet a few co-competitors when I convert my maybe status?
    • mp3 - I'll have the beer tent again if I don't race.
    • TrojanInsomniac - Looks like this could be fun!

uhh ya ~ mfoga, just a tid bit of info, Neil has raced clyde (sport/expert) for years (never this race) so Just because it says clyde 200+ doesn't mean they're slow ;)
Can you keep up with Neil at race pace for 12 miles?? Imagine several just like him (just sayin - lol)

Try beg men :) See how you do then make a move up if your ready.

BTW - I do belive the hubby is racing, not sure what cat yet though.

I know but I was not sure if they would race clyde and trust me that crossed my mind was what if Neil or someone is in that class. After the last few rides I have come to the conclusion that even racing beginner is a bad idea, I am just not in the kind of shape to make it worth it.

There will be those out there that have the mentality that if you aren't racing to win then why race. However, the race itself can be motivation to get in that kind of shape to eventually win!

I was EXTREMELY ill prepared when it came to fitness when I did the Bonelli race last month. I was ready to just quit and give up because frankly it didn't even seem worth it when I didn't even think I could finish the course. Thankfully I pushed through it and it was SUCH an amazing experience. I'm gonna kick ass at it next year.

Just give it a shot. Have no expectations of finishing with a trophy but set some kind of goal (like finishing, period). You might find out you hate it. You might find out you love it and that might just give you some extra motivation.

clydes are the most underestimated class EVER.
If you ever think of racing, whether it's this year or next, this is the race to start with. Great venue and course, and you'd probably do better than you expected.

    edit: what she ^^^ said

Its just that even doing the loop took a toll on me last few times. I am not expecting to place, hell not even do well, however I am worried that I will be dying just trying to finish. I just don't see the point of paying money when I know I will be hard pressed to finish in a reasonable amount of time.

Welcome to the glamourous life of racing, get used to getting your ass handed to you and then wondering why you pay for it...it would feel better paying for it at a house of ill repute:lol:but that would be illegal:lol:

Man up, or is it Harden The Eff Up:?:, and race, you'll feel better answering the "I wonder" question yourself then listening to others that did.

I myself am just trying to decide what class but most likely Beginner Mens 19-26, I want to race David B:bang:!

Either Beginner or Sport, depending on which bike, and how my ride today goes.

Willie was trying to talk me into the SS, but after all the ass handings I got this year, mine is almost too big for the bike (and my ego is too small).....still debating :-k

SingleSpeeding on this course would be tough, only because theres alot of flat spots, and then alot of short steep climbs.. I would pick a taller gear so you dont spin out in the flats, then just run your bike up the steep climbs
