    Weekend was Salvaged. I proposed to my girlfriend the following day. Life is good. :) Attached Thumbnails [IMG]

    Forget the ride - CONGRATS on the proposal!!:clap:

    Of course, I'm assuming she accepted.......

    Where you at Hoover? We were there around about 2:15 on Sunday for the BIG tour (us engineer types enjoy the 300 Ton cranes and massive turbines). Beers on shore at Boulder Beach after.

    GREAT job on the ride!:bang::bang:

    Great job on your century+ ride. Are you ready to step it up now to a double?

    Love the salt pics. I wish I could of joined you guys and if you do it again next year,I'm in! I also did a century yesterday with my road club. That was my fourth century in 6 weeks after practically no riding during the year. Lowest mileage since I started riding but I'm getting back into the swing of things. We did a ride from Rancho Cucamonga up to Lake Matthews down to Elsinore around the lake and back to Rancho.

    I know how you guys feel about catching up. We started out and I thought we were in the second or maybe even the third pack back but I looked around and we were among some of the fast guys so I wasn't quite sure. I then skipped a rest stop and caught up to some of the real fast guys/gals and hung on to them for a while but eventually I was dropped as I knew to save some for later on down the road. (this is something you guys might need to learn?) Anywho, I go by another rest stop with my friend Tom who has lost a ton of weight and has got pretty darn fast. And still big enough for me to snatch his wheel. Now we take off hard trying to see if we might catch some faster riders. After 15 miles or so Tom pulls away. Now I'm out by myself but it gives me a chance to ride at my own pace and recover somewhat. (Big help). But as usual I make a wrong turn and go off by 3 miles before I realize my mistake. I find my way back to the course and snag a riders wheel who wasn't on our ride but just happens to be going the right way. We work together till I have to part with him. I go up the hill and get stopped at a light and just then the fast group goes flying by with a green light. I take off when I get the green but I'm working way to hard to catch them. I finally do but can't hang on. They pull away. Now I'm suffering and I'm bummed I wasn't able to hang on. I get caught at another light and my friend who pulled me earlier pulls up behind me. He takes over and pulls us right by the final rest stop. From here on back it's a slight uphill back to the starting point. My bud Tom pulls me and another rider the rest of the way home. Great ride and man were we hurting but we were the first century riders in! Now I don't feel so bad about my performance and finally I'm starting to get my old form back. I'm not ready for a double yet but I plan on doing 5 doubles or more next year. You guys want to join in for some serious fun?

    Way to go Aaron I hope she said yes.:lol:

    Great report you guys! I was thinking I would like to do that but next year but y'know, I'm not really a desrt rat and I think it would start to get to me after awhile.

    1) Excellent helmet hair shot!!:clap:

    2) David, I noticed years ago that I also start to feel good around mile 70 or 80...usually. That means we should do this..http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/raam/home.php?N_webcat_id=1

    3)Congrats on the marraige proposal! :beer:

    4)We should all do a Solvang gig!

    Amtrak has been my favorite for many years but Solvang was my first century and has always been a close second to Amtrak. I haven't done a Solvang century in a long time but I have done the double 3 or 4 times and again it's my second favorite double behind the Davis double so if this takes off I'd be in for sure as it's an easy, very scenic century. It's in March usually the second weekend. Let's get a big STR Roadie run going!

    David looks like Michael Keaton!

    Congrats Chewie marriage is actually pretty cool.

    Congrats to all of you for finishing whats sounds like a great ride. I've been out there around Red Rock and some of those climbs aren't easy. Way to suck it up at the end to finish.
