I haven't signed up yet. I'm still trying to convince myself that this type of racing is fun

I started training over the weekend though. The more I eat, the more energy I have to burn right?

not sure....I was thinking it would be fun to just ride once, maybe not always ramping up for this and tapering for that.......or maybe I will race, its a tough choice;)

Course is up!!! Looks like climbing up to marine hill and going down that, then up bridges to where the aid station will be at the top, down the ridgeline on the left, climb back up and down the other ridge lin (after that painful marlin hill. Then the usual tunnel o' love, vics, bmx, then a little extra befome coming home. Looks like a challenging course. 1237ft of ascent for 9.3 miles. Will be lots of fun though (after the first lap when there is not so much traffic that is)

Rode the course yesterday. It will be fun, but harder than it looks. Bridges after a few laps is quite the grunt.

Maybe this time I'll go pre-ride the course...or latch on to somebody who knows where all these named sections are.....nah....I'll figure it out by lap 5 before it gets dark on race day.

I did a couple laps today. nice sprint style climbs and nothing too long and crazy. The DH is fun a flowy...nothing too technical. Lots of single track, not a lot of places to pass though. I foresee some good logjams on the first lap.

Jan 23rd - Course is Marked and ready!

The course is 95% marked and ready for prerides. My team and I have been out on course for the past few days getting things prepped and it is looking good! The start is the same as the Nov Race. Besides the Gocart track! But as many of you have noticed there is a new gate at the base of the Lake road. We have access to the gate but I have decided to bypass the gate and put the race on the road through the campground through lower Merlot Mesa and left through site 212. It will give a lot more campsited access to pitting and race course access.
    Ps STR
you guys are the first to know the start route. So if you havent got your campsites get them before I make the annoncement in a couple days!

    Janauary Course

I just downloaded the GPX file from Geoladders and converted the file to KML to view in Google Earth. I am really excited about the course. This seems to be very similar to the last January's course and I LOVED that course. Super fun, fast, flowy, no Dam(n) Climb, and rewards descenders. Looking forward to the race in a few weeks.

KML file attached for those interested.

    Weather!!!

Looks like the Jan race might be very interesting, but we all know how reliable California weather forecasts are. Current predictions show rain Monday through Friday before the race.

This is something I will have to keep an eye on and possibly have to go buy some new gear to help deal with the rain better come race day.

Rain leading up to the event will be perfect. It will help keep the sandy canyon section leading to the Marlin climb more rideable. It is a ways out to accurately predict weather, so time will tell.

Last year it rained leading right up to the event. I arrived the night before and was greeted to light rain. By the next day things had cleared up and it was a beautiful day. Hopefully we will be so lucky this year.

If it does rain look to wool to keep you warm.
