Is anyone else planning on competing? I am wondering what the exact course is? Geoladders has some older courses but not sure if they are similar to this years event. Would like to go up before the event and take a spin around it.

    Thanks!

My son Willie and I are both signed up. Don't know anything about the course. PM ranoaclan for specifics (it's his race).

I don't think Jason has mapped out the route yet! Once he gets up there and can do some trail work i'm sure he'll share something.

Don't forget there is still snow in some areas up there esp in the trees and shade - that side of the mtn's get more snow as the storms usually sit there before making the ridge into Big Bear via the damm.

We will be there as usual and I think some super secret Big Bear training rides have already happened ;) Any training in elevation is good training at this point.

You could just about pic any of last years Rim races to go ride. There are some options for different courses, but they almost all go up to start and down to finish a lap. Very similar to Hurkey Creek.

That's a bunch of BS about training already. There should have been a memo or something :protest:.

i'm in, solo, as well as most of my team-mates.
rim nordic is about as good as it gets in socal- full of single track, trees, short steep climbs, lots of fun switchbacks. its one of my favorite places to race....
the short climbs and elevation are going to make this one tough.

I had a short (read: as she was leaving the trailer) conversation with Bev regarding this. The route hasn't been planned out but she thought it was going to be the long course from Race 2 of last year.

BTW: Rim is actually in really good shape right now. There's only two sections that are HAB from snow. Even those sections are less than 50 feet long. The switchbacks are clear. There are still a few downed trees, but I'm planning some minor tree removal this weekend - any volunteers?

Disclaimer: This is obviously subject to change, so don't take this as gospel.

    Greg,
If we head up this weekend I'll join you for some trail clean up/recon ride action.

I'm 90% in on this one. But not more Clydes class for me.....I'm retiring on a high note.

Think I'm going to be in sport.

I don't think there's sport class for 12 hr race. It's just open solo.

likewise, I plan on it. If you go for a recon some time after traverse let me know. Sounds like a good destination for a day trip. Judging by earlier RRs we can link this with some other local trails. May be ghixon can show us around.

Jason is always kind enough to class the Solo's - SS, Beg, Sport, all the way up - Offering so many classes does nothing but bring more racers to his races..and gives Solo racers goals to move up classes :)

EDIT - Luke beat me to it

    Hey Guys

Rim Nordic Is shaping up to be a blast! The course will be very similar to the XC races of last year. With a few changes and surprises. You can pick out any of the last year races from the Geoladders site and be pretty close. I will be up there in the next couple of weeks to get the course locked down! I am really looking forward to this one. As far as classes go we have a wide variety. Solo goes like this:
    beg
    sport
    exp
    pro
age groups 1-99 seperated by 10 yrs ( any takers for the 100 yr old cat? :?: )
    single speeders
    juniors

plus all the team cats! Lots of opportunities for race folks!

I will kepp tabs on this forum for questions.
But If you got any that cant wait let me know:

See ya all in the dirt!

I've never been on any of these trails so a recon is definitely in the works before the event. We should get something together and make a day out of it.

right on! every time i've raced XC out there i've always thought how fun it would be to put down a ton of laps in an endurance event at that venue!

gnarly grinder climb, flat road up in the clouds to put the power down, and then a nasty loose descent! sounds like my kind of course to keep you on your toes for 12 long hours! can't wait!!

I'm about 12 weeks too late as far as training goes, but oh well. Will be giving it a go in Men's Sport Solo again.

I'm waiting on a friend who expressed interest in a 2-man team. Otherwise, I may be solo.

I'm still hoping to make this one. Depends on my work schedule and if I have time to get out to the course and do some training. I seem to do real poorly at altitude and haven't been on the mountain bike much lately.
