Awesome meeting you and your man yesterday! Since next weekend is kind of messed up for doing Sycamore Canyon because Luke is riding SART, the next time we'll be out there is the weekend of November 14th.

I am soooo happy for you! Congrats on getting the bike that feels good to YOU! (Glad you got a chance to at least sit on a Myka :) )

What shop was that? Incycle? (Don't really like those folks). Sorry to hear your man has that opinion. Women's physiology is different and women's bikes, especially Specialized, are designed for it. I can seriously feel the difference. Won't get on a man's bike ever again. I hope you get one you feel good on and that you control well. My riding skill skyrocketed once I got a women's bike.

I think that's where I differ from most riders-- I don't consider my bike as an "investment" that will someday be resold. I'd rather buy something that suits me and gives me a good ride. I love the Myka simply because it is women's specific and for once I feel like I'm controlling the bike and it's not controlling me. (My first bike, a Jamis hardtail, was a disaster for me). I'm only 5'2", so I even had to get the small frame with the Myka. Hard to find a bike that size, generally. I swear it was as if that bike was just sitting there waiting for me because it was everything I needed. So yeah, someday when I can afford something over $2K, I doubt I'll sell it.

Found it! I knew it was pretty light compared to my other bike. The Myka FSR Comp is 29.1 lbs. Eventually I want to upgrade to the Safire FSR when I can afford it. It has better components and 5" of travel. Going to replace my Avid Juicy's with a set of Hayes courtesy of my boyfriend. Better brakes :)

Ok, I can't find the weight on the technical specs online. I'll look on my paperwork when I get home. Incidentally, I don't think they are still making the one I have, the Susan G Komen ltd edition. The one they have now is plain white.

OMG!! I adore my Myka!! This is the FS, not the HT. I had a convo about it on the Team Estrogen forum and the chick insisted it had pull brakes until I realized she was talking about the HT and didn't specify. The FS has Avid Juicy disk brakes. Anyway, I believe it weighs 33 lbs. Not too bad to carry. I'll verify that weight 4 U.

We have never ridden Hulda Crook but have heard good things about it. Can you night ride there?

Where in Loma Linda do you ride? Have you ridden at Sycamore Canyon in Riversdie off of Central?

I forgot to mention, we are old (50+) and out of shape but still ride at least 2-4 times a week. We both race Downhill, Dual Slalom and 4x (for fun of course).

My husband and I live in Riverside and have been riding since the dinosaur age. We should hook up and do some rides!!!
