Looks like this post also coincides with the report on vitalmtb in regards to the recent trail closures in SD. What about all the road bikers who access the camp pendelton area? Are they also forbidden to ride on the base? Sad times for SD mtbikers.

They need to put a fence up if it's a military base. Tell Fish and Game to go suck an egg. How do the crazy enviros have any sway with the US Marines? I'm an army brat and every base I've visited or lived on outside California had fences around them.

if you poach and get caught by rangers in griffith park you get a ticket and told to walk out. that was just plain stupid to take their bikes. they are not a national threat nor was it a violent crime against humanity.

Too bad they didnt ride their 26er's then they wouldnt be much in a hurry to get them back. Big Group rides like that should have someone to at least know the perimeters. Oh well, first world problems.

Pendleton is initiating a registration process. Nearly gone are the days when you could access the base just by showing a driver's license. That will be the same, but you have to have pre-registered first, and the registration is good for a year.

As for the Miramar riders, a quick internet search would have told then those trails are illegal. Not just the trails on the base, but the trails not on the base as well. But I bet they knew that already. You take your chances, you pay the price. They'll get their bikes back eventually.

A registration process for mtbikers is probably not going to happen. Lol. Thanks for the update BigTex!

Edwards is in California. Lived on Ft. Eustis and near a bunch of others (adjecent to a national guard training base in Alabama). They all had fences, even in deep woods adjacent to private property. I as a bored teenager would have gone exploring on them if they hadn't. They don't here because of a bunch of stupid animals. I like enviros as much as anyone but common sense needs to prevail occasionally.
