Looking at getting new platform pedals for my MTB. I like to ride hard and hit jumps. Looking at the crank bros. And VP's. Anyone got any first hand suggestions on any? Preferably under $100. I am still debating myself on size too, any help is appreciated.
Currently have been enjoying Wellgo B219 pedals. Bashed plenty. Purchased @ Pricepoint on sale for half off @ 40 bucks, maybe the've got something for you. Good luck. Steve
I like the new Spank Oozy pedals on my dh bike. Also, PM if you are interested. I have 2 pairs of new flat pedals for sale that came with my bike that are of no use to me in black. Cheers! (2) Raceface Affect (2) Deity
I didn't think that getting new pedals was gonna be this in depth. Geez...... I am spending more time on looking at pedals than I did on buying my MTB.
Love my HT's, on all bikes but one. Love canfield brand, but loath the crampons. The wellgos were durable profile is thicker than needed these days.
Relax, Jon, you got trolled. I would be on those pedals nighthawk offered up. I pay way too much for pedals. Best regards.
even more in-depth... I have HTs on 2 bikes and they are super grippy on both Tevas and 510s. I also have Spank Spike and they are also super grippy on the 510s, but not as super grippy on the Tevas.
Thinner = better riding performace, but larger bearings outside (read: thicker) last longer. Many super-light pedals use a bushing VS a bearing or micro-bearing. Minimal longevity there. So you should consider how soon you'll be likely to replace them. Some expensive pedals, like many HT offerings, use bushings. Some less expensive ones, like DMR V12, are virtually indestructible but use a full-size bearing on the outside. I used PointOne Podiums hard for a few years and destroyed the micro-bearings in both pedals. I just got a complete bearing set for these for $40; better than a new pair at close to 200. You can change the grip of any peadal by changing or modifying the pins. HTs seem to have long pins which break off relatively easily. Just grab a pair for as cheap as you can. Go used or take-off. When those go tits up, you'll have a better idea what you like in a pedal.
