He is not your friend. If he could talk he would be screaming at you to put him back down. Lol.. I love snakes too!
Did you bring a real camera on the trail for such a shot? Wondering what camera it is, and how portable and rugged it is.
Yessir: Canon 7D with a Sigma 30mm lens. I'm a photographer by profession and this was a mostly fire trail ride so I opted to pack it in case there were any good photo ops
Yep. Mojave reds are usually more aggressive than the other rattlesnakes...I was riding Serrano ridge a couple of weeks ago and one of them started hissing at me and rattling like crazy, even though I was pretty far from it. Definitely not to be messed up with...
That is my go to combo right there...Although my 30 start front focusing really bad lately and has to go get tuned up.
Nice lens, Image looks super sharp. Ive been looking into getting a wider angle lens. Do you have any recommendations for a decent wide angle?
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 is my go-to wide angle lens. Very crisp, although the autofocus is kinda hit or miss, but not really an issue when you're at 11mm. Most of the focusing is manual anyways. Another from yesterday, this time at Oaks... almost ran this one over, and he was very, very unhappy. Aggressive snake.
I'm realizing that I should probably stop picking up every snake I see. It's gonna end badly one time. Nevertheless, I digress.
