Yep, doing it again. I've done it at least 10 times. It's an easy century. My roadie club will be doing it too, we usually end up with about 20 of us doing it.

Very easy. Only about 3,500 ft of climbing on the whole thing. I've just about convinced myself to do it on my 29'er MTB again this year. Hopefully beat last year's time.

Yes we are going - We cant wait this is a fun Century - steady pace and easy on the body and the eyes. a few of us were planning on the 55mile however some of my coworkers and I did the 100 last year and they are egging me on for the 100 mile this year, however I wanted to do the 55mile ride with my better half this year . she was planning on doing the 55mile but if things change 100 mile it is.:)

I've done the shorter ~50 mile course on my old 26" MTB and I'll probably be out again this year on the 29'er. It's usually a well-run event with lots of stops and the weather is pretty nice before the summer heat sets in.

I will be out there too, weather permitting. I usually register the morning of the event (usually not much of a line to register) in case of bad weather. This was my first century I had ridden, and it is probably the easiest, so a great one for century newbs. The biggest climb is the overpass that goes over the Interstate :) The hardest is dealing with the huge number of riders.

How's the wind out there? I just started dabbling in roadieism and think this might be a cool notch in my (non-Lycra) belt and break in the new bike.

The wind can be a bear, but it doesn't last very long. This is the perfect first century road ride.

This has been something I've wanted to do since I heard about it last year (Palm Springs + riding my bicycle = heaven!) How doable is this ride on an MTB?

Quite doable. I did the century last year on my 29er MTB, and am doing it again this year.

Yes, it is doable, although much easier on a road bike. I saw you climb up Blackstar one night , and I know you can do this century. It is pretty much flat, with the biggest climb being the overpass over the freeway. If you were to do it on your MTB, I would spend a few bucks and put some slick tires on it for this event...you will be surprised how much easier it rolls. PM me if any questions.

Was waiting to see what my work schedule looks like and officially signed up this weekend for the entire century. I'll be another crazy one out there on the MTB. Been quite a while since I've done any 100+ mile rides but I've been trying to rack up the mileage lately so we'll see how it goes. Hope the weather holds out as it's looking like a slight chance of showers on Friday but sunny on Saturday with a high in the mid-60s.

I'll be aboard a black/grey Trek Mamba, 2.2" tires. I'm starting at 0630, shooting for sub 7:30 overall time for the century. Last year was 8:21. Everyone wave as you go by...or ride along for a while.

I'll be out on a black/green Scott Spark 'niner. I've been trying a new tire combo and it seems to be working reasonably well on pavement/asphalt (both 2.2", Schwalbe Rocket Ron up front and Smart Sam in rear). Planning to leave at the later start time and anything between 6-7 hours riding time and I'll be happy.

Looks like all my friends punked out of the century. I'll be riding solo. If anyone wants company for the century let me know.
