Oprah has to be pissed at Te'o forstealing her thunder for her failing network. She was all set to draw everyone in but face it, football is a bigger draw than cycling.

    Reading and comprehension fail.

Nowhere did I say that I'm against knowing things. If you want to learn about things, you may want to learn to read.

Yeah Obfisker, learn how to read. 2wheel just doesn't care, that's all. He just want's to ride his bike without worrying about, you know, complicated stuff, like pro cycling. I was thinking about reading some post interview analysis, but now I think I'll just take some bong hits and ride into the moonlight...

Good plan. Knowledge is stupid, particularly when it involves things I don't care about.

Good story to get up to speed on Tom Wiesel and Tailwind.http://www.businessweek.com/article...et-charged-with-fraud?campaign_id=otbrn.bw.ls

Betsy A. interview with CNN is great. Referring to LA saying (again) he wasn't the "leader" of the team, couldnt just fire people etc....Betsy jumps in - "he owned the team" Bloomberg article says he actually owned/owns about 12% or so......LA messing with facts again.

Well, that was interesting, watching Lance carefully negotiate perjury-infested waters giving answers & non-answers to an often amused Oprah. I haven't drank in months, but the damned bartender just wouldn't quit pouring IPA, so I'm pretty sure I did more talking than Lance did tonight in explaining all the subtext in this crowded rural country bar full of frozen farmers and hunters and expeditioneers. -22 degrees below tonight. Many wondered what the effects of this would be as USADA turns its attention to cheats in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. I think for a second we imagined a pants-shatting in lockerrooms nationwide in a dozen different sports.

I was pleasantly surprised that Oprah didn't coddle Lance. Didn't rake him over the coals, but definitely asked some pointed Q's. Perhaps tomorrow night she'll bring Livestrong and it's hundreds of millions of dollars and their lack of cancer research funding out into sharp focus.

...I have to wonder how much of our money that went to Livestrong and its mission of "awareness" would have gone to researchers developing treatments that could have saved lives had it not been for Lance. Cheating at bike races is one thing. Taking money from compassionate people in the name of cancer is entirely another.

"She thought I said you were a fat crazy bitch. And I said, 'Betsy, I never said you were fat'".
Laughed hops out my nose. Real smooth, Lance.

Oh hell, the wolves are howling right outside.

He said more than I thought he would. Huge deal for me. With my background, I've been following cycling for 25 years and Lance was around for more than half of them.

So far I am still not hating on Lance. Oprah seems intent on getting him to implicate others and Lance comes off as not telling the whole story because of this. He seems to be taking responsibility for his own actions by calling himself a liar, a bully, a cheat and wants to make amends to those he hurt but realizes that he did so much damage that he can not fix the harm he did to people. I do not think it is fair to expect him to throw the sport he loves and other riders under the bus to make good copy. He seems like a man that fell into believing the myths and lies he created and today it has left him a very confused man now trying to remember come to terms with what he did. He says he is happy today even with all the shit he is in even happier than he was during his racing career. This is a story of obsession and what happens when someone has to win at all costs. He explains that at the time his doping in his mind it was a even playing field as simple as putting air in the tires, water in the bottle and doping to win.

Which makes total sense when you look at all the suspensions of other team's top riders. Using the drugs and doping techniques without getting caught was simply part of the game, along with being on a good team, peaking for the Tour, climbing and time-trialing well, and not missing key breaks.

Was it a risk? Sure, but so's the crazy first week of a Tour, flying down exposed roads at high speed, dealing with road furniture on city streets, staying upright in feed zones..

I feel bad about the people he hurt while protecting his brand, especially Greg Lemond, but the TdF is a beautiful race and he raced it flawlessly. If those racers during that time chose to elevate the sport by treating their bodies like race car engines, well, it was fun seeing how fast they could go with some special fuel in the tank.

What's Lance's end game here? In order to get his lifetime ban reduced, he's gonna have to roll over on someone REAL big. He was the biggest rider, so he's gonna have to roll over on the UCI or McQuaid or Vanbreggein (sp?). And he didn't.
In talking some truth now, he opens himself up to perjury as well as a lot of millions in civil claims.
He had to "lay down on that one" saying whether or not Betsy Andreu was saying the truth. What a copout - answer the damned question!

Oprah was probably wishing she had Teo instead or both. Teo is like her dream topic and she could use Lance as a live human polygraph. "Lance-the liar's liar, do you believe that Teo was not in on the hoax? I mean, who was he talking to on the phone?"

USADA has no ability to do anything there unless those sports contact them to do so.

I have been playing no limit poker for over 10 years and have read many books on non verbal expressions (tells). I have a pretty good read on normal (non poker players) people with their nonverbal expressions and after watching this interview I would say he properly was not truthful for about 30% of the interview. I mean the guy was squirming in his chair, major mouth movements, leaning forward in chair, and hand figits. Lance stick to running tri's and screwing people over because your poker game would suck.

I agree with him looking like he was still "holding back" on the truth, but wouldn't you squirm a bit if you lived a very public lie, over and over, for over 15 years. Playing poker may be a bit different for him, but he'd move all-in on every hand!

What should have been asked is -- if you don't care about it and just want to ride your bike, then why read the thread and comment on it? It's only 7 months old with almost 600 responses.

He is not just playing his own hand, many others are effected by what he does (the hand he plays) What you see as not being truthful I take as being guarded maybe even protecting others. We are looking at a work in progress as time goes on he may get more forthcoming. The feds "the serious wolves at the door" are watching, his attorneys are probably scrabbling this is more than a hand of poker.

As Shed addressed -- He's walking a fine line with perjury. I just read a story how Betsy Andreu is furious because he didn't admit to the "hospital scene" and say she was right after years of trashing her -- because he testified in a $7.5 million lawsuit that it didn't happen. He's got a long and costly legal road ahead of him. He acted like he couldn't remember whether he sued his old masseuse "To tell you the truth, we sued so many people."

Just to sum and finish off my final post in this thread:
The guy is a total DB, narcissistic, a-hole -- and that's the reason why I'm not a fan. However, in an equally juiced field, he trained harder than any of them and still put in the work. "Win at all costs"
