Went To this place today to look around.....i decided to time how long it took for one of the sales people to drop the lipos line and it was about 2 mins 23 seconds. I dont give a shit about lopes and I dont care what he uses.

So then I asked them how to get the turkey gobbler sound out of my xt breaks and the sales man straight up told me xt brakes suck. That is horrible customer service. At that point steve c got pissed and told the guy thats why they have such a bad rep on the internet and walked out but I stayed and after that got great customer service.....it only took a friend to say f you to the sales person to get it lol the guy tried apologizing to steve but steve didnt want to hear anything he had to say I dont blame him. You dont put down a customer or their bike its just bad cs.

if im in a bind I'll try them out again but they aren't high on the totem pole for me in the customer service dept

    The Right Fix

Organic Compound brake pads is all it needs, that should fix your brake issue.

Love my XT brakes on my HT - never run metallic in em. Also a good cleaning with rubbing alcohol helps too.

Been there once - not enough selection and prices are way too high to bother. There are many shops within 10 miles that don't have 'issues'....

There are some changes happening at Bike Co. One of the co-owners is gone. Kara and Bobby and a few others seem to be making an attempt to offer better prices and service. The shop has always treated me well, but some of my friends have had some inexcusable experiences there (a year ago). Still hear a lot of trash talk from the back. Still hear about "Brian" every time I come in.

I've only had great experiences there... Got my Ibis Mojo HD from them (before they were even out to the general public) as well as a bunch of other gear/ components, so I have no complaints. I've been treated like shit at many other bike stores and been subjected to suspicious delays on getting my bike fixed too, but never from them. So I say go in and see for yourself whether or not you like the place.

i destroyed my cranks...they were putting new ones on for me....60 dollars!!! I had bought some bars from them and asked if they'd mind tossing those on real quick as well. (not expecting to be charged for 5 minutes worth of work) wafj

and the dumb **** who works behind the counter?? I wanted price checks on 3 or 4 items....frames, shocks, a couple forks. i stated what i wanted several times and the final printout she hands me of the best prices they can do has not a single right product of what i wanted.

I never get those who complain about being charged $15 to adjust a derailleur, $20 to install XYZ, $30 for handlebars, etc. I'm surprised any bike shop doesn't start out with a general bike-stand fee of $75.00 for any service. How can a bike shop pay its employees on nickles and dimes. Also, those who complain about a few dollars are probably the guys that would sue the bike shop for a new frame if the allen wrench slips and puts a hairline scratch on the paint!

I greatly appreciate it when a bike shop or any company rewards my loyal patronage and willingness to pay retail with free service or small parts now and then, but it would be extremely pompous of me to EXPECT free or special service.

    Really??!! Please take that back!

It would have been cheaper if you used the "I know Lopes" coupon.

I prefer mixed XTR pads. One Organic with one Metallic, works like a charm!

I've been in that shop a couple times to buy supplies. The young girl behind the counter has a positive attitude and is very pleasant.

positive attitude and pleasantry doesn't help my customer service situation!! i didn't say a damn thing to her but she insisted on showing me around and a new ibis pointing out every single component on the bike like two wheels and a metal frame were all new to me... "Here we have the XTR crankset..." i mean, hey, thanks. but i can read.

this is the same bike shop who, roughly a year and a half ago, installed a 68/73 mm crankset into my 83mm frame. Then said I ordered the wrong one!! Well even if I did, you are the kooks who went ahead and installed it. I mean, it must've been hard to tell the spindle was 10mm shorter huh?

The girl behind the counter is very jovial and conversation is very easy. But she does not belong behind the counter of a bike shop. Ex. I wanted a new, heavier lb. spring for my shock. For the most part, you can tell which coils will fit with eyesight and which are way to big/small and long/short. But she insisted on checking all of the springs for me. Even the red one which took 3 or 4 minutes to finally reach, which I voiced wouldn't fit anyway...(it was only 2 inches longer and an 1 inch bigger in diameter, a monkey could tell it wouldn't fit)

I agree at once they had an "our shit don't stink" attitude but they always say hi and ask if i need help for the most part...except for that one time when some kid sat on the phone talking while i walked the store for 15 minutes. You could see that whole store in less than 5 minutes, should've asked if I wanted help. Funny how customers seem to really remember the bad experiences they have. I do enjoy talking to the darker man who is a mechanic in the back and seems to have the most knowledge out of all of them.

    My peace.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that she knows less about bicycles than you do, but that doesn't give you the right to refer to her by the worst possible word you could call any female. Say what you will about their lack of knowledge, etc. Those would be valid points. But you went too far, and I doubt it was the first time. I'm sure it's your nature to do so.

My original post was sanitized so I won't say anymore about what I think about you, which is probably for the best since I don't know you but it is rather obvious.

Apparently this is a difficult concept for some but this thread is for people to post a review of their experience at this shop. If you feel the urge to post something else here, please suppress it. This ridiculous shit is getting old. Anymore off topic posts in this thread will be deleted. Anyone that has previously had a post deleted will lose posting privileges in this forum.

This thread has been growing with overwhelming contempt for the Bike Co. It’s clear the owner is disconnected from his audience. Back in 2002 Sven Martin helped me build a world class Chris King/XTR/Fox/Thomson mountain bike. Sven took the role as a experienced consultant NOT a salesperson. After Sven’s departure I found the shop less worthy of my business.
Today the shop has a great feel and look as you walk in but quickly goes downhill especially from the whiny over achieving female CSR. Please take it down a notch and just understand I will ask if I need help. Yes, the Lopes/Rey card is quite old and don’t care.
Take a lesson from The Path(Carl) or Adrenaline Bikes(Jesse) be sincere and stand behind your word and work.
There is a new shop in the area REVO CYCLES. It’s a great looking store with a unique show room concept. Good place to visit and check out the latest /greatest bikes and accessories. The sales people are professional, friendly, and respectfully keep their distance after initial engagement.
Hopefully the Bike Co ownership will take all this STR feedback and work towards improving the shop. I hope to hear raves in the future.

Not sure to tell you the truth but after steve called them out and told them they have a horrible rep on the internet the girl behind the counter said they used to act like that and things have changed. They havent changed at all Im sick of hearing about brian lopes to the point that Im actually starting to hate the guy.

Either none of them are on here or they just dont care about reviews. Maybe they arent hurting for customer/money? I find it hard to believe none of them have seen this thread
