Yeah, it should dry up pretty good come Saturday.....of course there will probably be some wet spots, and maybe a little snow on the backside of the peak, but otherwise it should be in pretty good shape.

Rode to the peak on Sunday via MS, which was in pretty good shape with some 4-10 inch stream crossings....

Wet and sticky, many mud puddles (all but the biggest should dry up), yes some Ice on the back of the peak but not on the road, and surreal fog swirling around the towers !

Did not go down UHJ but DO appreciate the work of WS and others !!!

Transfers were closed on the 19th.

No more changes will be made.

    Email from Warriors ...

To address an issue we've had with individuals taking the place of participants who are signed up for the event but did not transfer their position by the cut off time to do so - you will be required to show ID when you cross the finish line. Those who took the place of a participant without the permission of the Warrior's Society will result in a DNF being listed on the finishing times for the person whose place they took.

    Per the WS website:

Those registered for the event may pick up their packet (number plate, event t-shirt, etc.) on Wednesday, March 30th and Thursday, the 31st from 5-7 pm at Rock N Road Bikes in Irvine.

You may also pick up your packet the day of the event at the start from 4:30 am to 5:00 am

If you have picked up your packet you will still need to check in at the start by 5:00 am

Be sure to say Hi when you come to get your packet.

Curious as to why the finish line was moved into Oneil Park? It seems to me that having racers cross on to the road with oncoming traffic is not a smart move? Is there some secret path that connects TCR into Oneil that doesn't require riding on the street?

You will have to cross the road.....however, there will be crossing guards there.

From there you will ride the dirt trail along side the road to the finish.

Unfortunately we are not able to stop traffic, so riders will have to yield to vehicles on the road.

Remember, this is not a race.......the venue area will make up for having to cross the road, especially for spectators who know won't have to sit at the end of the dirt road and wait without any shade or restrooms.

Timed cutoff points so we are not out there alllllll day long. This ensures everyone is off the mountain, including volunteers before dark.

We do time the event......but first place and last place get the same award.

Plus there are no age classes or ability classes.

    The Traverse is a race.

I don't wanna be a hater but allow me to be on the list of people that think this is a BAD IDEA. I hope nothing happens "race" or "event" mountain bikes and cars shouldn't be joined, ever. :)

I never said I was a fan of that either :) However, although we all know nobody 'officially' calls this a race. You and I both know what the finish line looks like. People charging as hard and fast as they can to finish and do well. Now, combine that and automobiles near the end of a very long day. Can you say, CLUSTER F? I think so! :)

Ya, you're right. If you're signed up for Saturday, you should just skip the "ride" and sleep in Saturday morning. You don't want to risk an accident. :)

No way! I wanna see two racers coming into the crossing guard full speed come to a complete stop when he orders them to wait for cars. I should wait there with a camera that is going to be quite a sight and offer interesting finish times. "Well I was on course to break the record but failed by 20 seconds because of a crossing guard" lolz

Meh. To me, my Garmin-computer ride time is the most important. If I get a flat, I dont want to let that affect my judgment of my personal overall performance. I think if there was a 10+ second delay with the car situation, I'll rely on my ride computer to do the same auto-pause.

When I ride back into the canyon I always ride from home which means crossing Live Oak Road to get back into O'Neil. There will be NO issue with cars especially if there is a cross guard. The road is mostly used by locals who are quite used to bikers. Besides, when you exit Trabuco you go right so you will not have to stop just go with the flow. It is when you have to move over the the other side to enter O'Neil that you have to cross to the dirt.
