No sweat! Good luck on it next year, and in the meantime let me be the first to thank you for volunteering this year. I bet you'll have an amazing time; the camaraderie and enthusiasm out there is incredible. I've been telling myself for the past 6 months that I wouldn't ride this year, that I'd volunteer instead...but I caved to the peer pressure and signed up to ride anyway.

    Peer pressure, my a$$.

YOU'RE the one that emailed me @ 11:50 telling me to get my lazy butt up and log on to Active (thanks, by the way).

Here's to plenty of training rides until that fateful day when I bid you adieu at the bottom of Holy Jim.

WHT & Trabuco this weekend, eh?

I am in for CC..signed up via iPhone via Spotty WiFi from Rome, Italy...must add I was under pressure...but did not crack.

Here is a *real* hint to folks...go to Active the day before and create an account that has your name and address etc...then login into Active at 11:59....then you don't have to fill out all that info during the actual event signup process. It makes it very quick and painless.

I missed out on the CC last year, as I figured I could wake up early in the a.m. to register. Well I got in this year (1st time) and I'm really looking forward to it!

Hi everyone. My name is Chris and I am a filmmaker and avid cyclist. I recently produced a promo video for the Over The Hump MTB Race Series 10' that is in post production. I recently watched Race Across the Sky and it motivated me to create a documentary. I want to create a short 20-45 minute segment that will follow 2-3 cyclist throughout their cycling seasons that includes daily training, pre-race training, and race day coverage (if allowed by organizers of the event). I am also looking to give exposure to local races. Since VQ is coming up, it would be a good chance for me to do so. I have e-mailed them but did not get a response yet. I am looking to pitch this to local networks such as PBS/KOCE.

Let me know if you would be interested in participating. There is no Pay for anyone (including me). So please keep that in mind.

It was the peer pressure from all the riders at Beachwood that night (and maybe the beer too).

You're going to wait there for 90 minutes just to bid me adieu?

Not so much, no. There are a bunch of reasons why I'm not attempting VQ, and most of them involve WHT!

Is there an official list of all the people registered somewhere?

    Just a suggestion:

I noticed that a few people are putting up ads in the classified section for CC/VQ spots (that they would like to buy). Maybe there should be a sticky note in that section, so those trying to circumvent the list don't screw over those who have been trying to wait patiently and so the sellers can find who to contact ASAP instead of searching (especially those unfamiliar with STR).

That, or whenever someone wants to transfer a spot, instead of a wait list, auction them off and donate whatever goes over the $125 + transfer fee to some appointed charity (or just put whatever was over the $125 into the same charity the transfer fee goes to).

People are free to do what they want. If they want to sell them to the highest bidder they can do that. But the cool kids help out fellow riders and not profit off the situation. The list is informal and it should stay that way. Good on ya Jeff for taking time out of your day to manage the list for a second year!!!

Not sure how to make a "sticky" in the classifieds. There is one in the Racing Forum(for those unaware). http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/racing-training/53864-2011-vq-cc-waiting-list.html. The list is not maintained or in no way guarantee anyone a spot who is on the list, by the WS. It is on an honor system and it would be appreciated by all that anyone selling a spot go there 1st, but not certainly not obligated. Thanks.

My suggestion was actually due to several people popping in here asking about a wait list or how to get an entry, etc. Obviously people will not be flipping through the pages and pages of an online forum to check out where the wait list is or who is running it, etc. Out of ignorance, they may post somewhere else, and those who have been waiting will not get it. It just seems that it would be easier to access, for both wanna be entrees and sellers, if there was a way to sticky it or something.

I don't really care, I've done my time on that mtn as a rider and volunteer; I do not need an entry.

I have a fairly large queue of names to add to the list right now. Will have it fully updated by tomorrow night.
