seems like a lot of lucky people around here are constantly rockin' new sweet rides, while some of us are dirt poor and keep the old ride going.
Who here is riding something older than 5 years?

Post your old school rig here.

I'm still riding an '02 Kona Bear, with upgrades over the years as things have broken/worn out. This thing just keeps on ticking . . .

5 years is not that old really. BTW, I merged them cause your thread was the same title as the other. I didn't really check EVERY post. Since you guys feel it needs it own thread, here it is. PM me next time. Thanks.

    78 Schwinn Cruiser

1978 Schwinn Cruiser frame with a mix of misc parts I had left over from past mountain bikes.
Not my only bike, but probably the most fun to ride.

Well this last weekend I was doing a full overhaul to my 87 Panasonic. This you need to note Veta hard shell lid and a REAR RACK. Too lazy to take it off for a BB race

I bought this on Craigslist for next to nothing. Replaced some parts, sorry not all period correct, with ebay buys and stuff laying around the shop. I then surprised a good friend of mine by shipping off to him in IL. If you are ever in PawPaw IL., there is a good chance you will see him tearing through the cornfields on this.

1998 C-dale Freeride, my 4th bike. Wrong in so many ways. Gotta love the radial lacing on the front wheel with the coil shock. And man, the geometry was terrible, totally steep head angle for a "freeride" bike.

you folks are still riding these rigs? That was the point of the thread- what "older" bikes are still out there in use. Mine is 8 years old. I claim this is old compared to all the new rigs people are always posting about.

Otherwise, this thread should probably go ahead and get merged again.

I ride my cruiser on a regular basis and have raced it at a few events. I don't think I've ever seen Dino on anything else but his Mountain Cycle at Fully.

    Okay... I'll play too.

Let's see how forward thinking I was in 1988:

    1) Puma cycling shoes on (I think) the very first version of Time clipless pedals. They were very tough to unclip.

    2) 2x10 drivetrain? No. More like 2x7.

    3) Back in the day, the Marin Rockstar was a kickass tire.

    4) Purple & Green. I was asked by Mantis, what color of bike I didn't want? My response was Purple OR green:?:

    5) This Big Bear race was on the Fawnskin side.

    6) Is that a blonde haired Sailor Ripley??? Remove the mint green Giro to reveal the stylish skullet:wave::lol::lol::lol:

I remember that race it was one of my 1st, but I forget the name of it. Were these pics taken by ZAP? Did you ever race at Shaubarum Park?

I put 36 miles on my '04 Bionicon Edison today. It is close to 12,000 miles in six years. Though I have the newer supershuttle, I'm still riding the Edison about once a week.

One of my fellow riders thought that i should just scratch my initials gangsta style into the powder coat. They wouldn't look out of place on how beaten up the bike is.

Did any of you see the Vintage race at the keyesville classic? Now that was some nostalgia and fun:

I've got a 1990 Raleigh M7000 w/ 3 sweet inches of elostomer suspension. Was completely OEM until my brother borrowed it and broke the chain, taco-ed the wheel, tore the front tire and broke the front fork bridge. All on one ride at Los Pinetos. But hey, I replaced the front wheel/tire and it still ridable, but I need to find a fork for it to hit the trail again.

Yeah I did the "Do It In The Dirt" race back in about 89 or 90.
So funny that I stuck around for the awards to see which pro won and I ended up placing in my class. I crapped my pants for sure. My first race.:bang:

Here's a pic of my old '89 Peugeot Canyon Express from last year. Still got the frame, but rebuilding it again.
