you know what he may be getting at is that he is not a local and he just assumed that no one would have a race where you ride in the dark for an hour before the sun comes up (do any other epic or multi stage races do this??)

Maybe not being prepared 'lightwise' reflects on there attitude and confidence going into it?? They just show up and dealt with what got thrown at them in a positive way. Great description of Tinker holding the flashlight and shoving it down his shorts, funny!

I for one was a complete geek and consulted the sunrise times and even prerode in the dark to get an idea of what it was going to be like a month before time. I then showed up with what I affectionately call 'the blowtorch'. I thought maybe the weight would slow me down but it didn't really, my time to the first aid station was very close to the previous year. Next year a smaller light though!! Seeing all those lights winding through the canyon was quite the sight I have to admit.....

I missed the final cut off on my first VQ. They took my number plate and I couldn't stop crying. It was one of the worst feelings I have ever experienced. I said I'd never do it again. I've completed 3 consecutive VQ's since.

You will make it next year now you know what it takes. I will be volunteering and cheering. Best of luck! ;)

Debbie, I'm so impressed with your double Q. Though I shouldn't be suprised, your determination is clearly very strong.

    Congratulations on your rides.

    VQ/CC Finish Line Portraits Posted

Congratulations to all those intrepid souls who attempted the Vision Quest and Counting Coup.

Free downloads of the VQ/CC portraits will be available in a few days at http://www.warriorssociety.org

This year, due to requests from riders I have also put up the photos at johnearly.dotphoto.com for those who want to purchase prints, mugs, etc.

They are 4800x3200. However, to reiterate there will be free digital files available on the Warriors Society Web site in a few days but I am not sure what size they will be uploaded as.

Reading everyone's RR has been great, for a second it almost makes me want to enter the CC next year. Then I realize I should just stick to taking photos lol. It was my birthday yesterday so haven't had time to touch my photos since Saturday, but plan on working on them tonight and will have them up on my site as soon as I can.

Yup, little spots here and there. I hope it doesn't get any worse.
