THANK YOU! I knew it wasn't a Red Tail and couldn't recall the name of that particular species!

The Argentine ant is displacing native species. The toads don't do well on a diet of Argentine ants.

On the Kern River bike trail, in one ride my daughter and I saw, a kit fox, rabbits, roadrunners, ducks and squirrels. The squirrels are cute until the last second they run out in front of you and have seen many riders get them mangled in the wheels or drivetrains due to their stupidity. Thank god I have never seen most of the animals that are shown. I once had a rattler strike at me while I was riding and he missed my leg and hit the seattube behind my leg and we stopped to see what it was thanking my lucky stars he missed.

Saw this cute little one on my way to Dripping Cave
    [IMG]

Thought for sure my mariachi sounding front brake was gonna scare this little one away, it could have cared less about me.

The main reason I got this camera (pentax wg-1) is it's ability to take close up shots.

    Kingsnake and a Diamondback... nice!
It'd be more impressive if you were pulling on the Diamondback's tail though...

Dude!! That mountain king is awesome. You are a lucky duck for that find. I used to keep kings when i was a bit younger and the mountains were always my favorite.

edit: If you take a closer look at the pattern on that Mountain King it is nearly perfect. That in itself is very difficult to find.

Old one but still my best. Condors Grand Canyon South Rim. Rode AZ Trail near Grandview Tower and was riding my bike along East Rim Road and came across two condors sunning. They let me get very close later I found out I got to close, there is a law stating you need to stay away from them.

Saw this hawk enjoying his lunch in El Moro and the coiled rattler on STT. Saw a juvenile coyote last weekend but couldn't get my camera out in time to snap a pic.
