    2. REGISTRATION FOR THE 2010 VISION QUEST AND COUNTING COUP EVENTS TO BEGIN AT MIDNIGHT ON OCTOBER 1ST.

We will be updating our web pages for these events with the new changes for 2010. The prices will remain the same but the date has been changed to late March instead of early March to allow for more sunlight at the start. We plan on having the pages updated a few days prior to the beginning of registration.

    2010 Vision Quest / Counting Coup - March 20th

Registration for the 2009 Vision Quest and Counting Coup opens on October 1st, just over two weeks from now.

    http://www.warriorssociety.org/event...eral_info.html

Every year it sells out quicker than the last, so registering at midnight is your best bet.

I'm leaning towards VQ this year after doing the CC for the first time last year.

My suggestion, if you're even considering doing either, buy a spot as soon as you can. There's always plenty of people looking for a spot to buy afterwards.

how about we all make up our minds and buy one entry. not necessary to buy multiple entries because you cant make up your mind!

last thing we need is people buying multiple entries - this event is hard enough to get in to.

Great point. You should only sign up if you are going to participate. Too many sign up and try to decide if they can do it only to back out later. This creates many headaches for those putting on the event with "waiting lists".

Is there a raffle in the future for this event? I hope not.

For those that have already done VQ before... how bad is it really?

no-one can accurately answer that question for you.

We all have different levels of fitness and speed. I would suggest you time yourself on the following loop:

Start at Blackstar gate - up Blackstar to Beeks to Silverado (motorway) trail, up Maple Springs to Four Corners. Compare that time to the VQ cutoff's from the Warriors Society website (I've heard the '10 cut-off will be moved up 1/2 hr?) and see how you'll fare. Remember the tough cut-off will be at the bottom of Holy Jim assuming they keep it in the same spot. Add about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to your 4 corners time for that.

With training you'll get faster but if you're not even close, you;ll be in for a long day.

That said, it's all about challenging yourself. Sure, it's a timed event and there is a winner but at the end of the day, it's really all about overcoming something that can be way outside your comfort zone and feeling that sense of accomplishment.

So much for that. I hardly ever see midnight and for sure won't on a Thursday night. Oh well.

You will have 6 hrs to get from Black Star to the Holy Jim lot for the VQ. Those other cutoffs at Maple Springs and 4 Corners are not good indicators for the VQ, but more CC cutoffs.

In years past, about 35% do not finish it. I had cramping from the start, 2 bad knees which relegated me to basically "take it easy", help 3 riders with mechanicals, lose my Garmin and look for it for 20 minutes and still made the 1 cutoff that matters for the VQ. Others ride as hard as they can and still not make the cutoff.

The only way to know is to do it. If you have never done any long rides before, I would recommend the Counting Coup since it is a much, much easier event, but still a challenge for many.

Yes it is a major pain in the ass.......plus keep in mind.....we(Warriors Society) are not doing any waiting lists......I repeat: NO WAITING LISTS from the Warrior's Society!!!!

This is partly why the date was move back til March 20 so we would have the sun come up earlier.

I've been watching the 2006 DVD of this event long enough, this year I'm down for it, as long as I can get a spot! So please no Hoarders.

HA! its early... maybe no coffee?

i think i'm going opposite of most and downgrading. after 2 vq's, i think i'm going to do the cc. if vq didnt have the hike up west horse thief, i'd do it again, but i want to ride... not hike. vq distance is great just wish it was all ridable.

Sorry, I will NOT be maintaining a list. Too many not able to follow simple instructions and not answering PMs or emails. :?:

I'm not even sure transfers will be allowed this time. So buying a spot thinking you can always sell it later may not be the best thing to do.
