    Another siting this weekend!

The wife and I were hiking with our dogs on Sunday and saw the pooper at the top of the 3rd B around 1:30pm. I wasn't sure it was him until he had already passed by, and wasn't 100% sure until I confirmed with the description in this thread (bike and facial description are a complete match).

Luckily for us, he didn't leave anything, err, behind.

Did anyone see Whiting's blog post in the Register?

I do when not riding in a park, tp is your best friend eventually when you're doing a 20+ in the S.A Mtns. it's gonna occur . Dont leave home w/o it.#-o.

Stay away from streams and get off the trail! Use nearby wood to dig a sump and cover when done.

I could be more thorough butt.......

Has this guy been caught? I ran over some poop a while back and I was sure it wasn't dog/coyote/bobcat poop. It was right in the middle of the trail as you're dropping down into Barham Ridge - about 50 yards from the top.

I carry a set of wipes, a latex glove and a ziploc bag so I can pack it out.

It seems like all they'd have to do is a DNA test of a sample, and boom, he's caught.
Then again, this is a story that keeps on giving, and from a comedy standpoint I'm sorta glad there are freaks like this on the loose.

    Ballsy move (NPI)!

FWIW, on every ride I bring WetOnes - which are one of the few flushable sewer/septic compliant wipes out there. Most require being disposed of in the trash.

    - and yes, what Portly said, get off the trail and away from water. Dig a good sump and bury it well.

Looks like this is no longer an issue. Phantom Pooper has not been seen in over a year and a half.

After his run in with the ranger and my group on a ride, the Oaks has been Phantom Pooper free.

I actually have some insider info here... While I'm not 100% sure it is accurate, this is what the word is-

The Phantom Pooper used to ride on a regular basis, he was in fact a racer. He was well known in the biking community. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I believe most of it was removed by surgery. He went back to biking, but somehow the part that was not removed, triggered something in his brain to do his thing.

While there can be a lot of humor taken out of this, it is really quite sad. As an individual that got it flung up in my face, I'm glad to see it isn't happening any more. BUT, I'm sad to hear the origin of the issue.

The last update I have heard, is he has since gone back to the dr and more, if not all, of the tumor has been removed. Lets hope the surgery was a 100% success.
