Thanks to both you and Gene and the others I pestered before the race. I'm very grateful that Allan had an extra pair, super nice guy and fast too, he took 9th overall!

If you're wondering what it feels like for us to make the cutoffs, complete the race, and meet our personal goals, hows this?

Thanks for sharing! I'm the guy in the 7th pic, in a "time trial" tuck trying to get in under the 9 hour mark.

I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the volunteers...

    Ohmigosh, I can't believe I missed this:

THANK YOU WARRIORS!!! You are an incredible, group of people whom I respect & admire. You sacrifice your time with blood, sweat and tears, out of the passion you have for this magnicifent sport and mankind. I look forward to growing and learning by the exemplary standards you hold yourselves to.

Thanks, Tomcat! That's me (#428, though can't read it) in the second to last of your pics--with the VW Touarag behind me. I felt like I was spinning like crazy with the 32-20 gearing--legs pumping like crazy & not really going anywhere.

Luckily the finish line was one of only two flat spots on the entire course where that was an issue. For the other 40 miles, I was VERY glad to have geared down...

    Jason/HighRev is a nationally-published photographer, usually covering off-road racing.

A break in the racing schedule gave him the chance to shoot the Pow Wow.

My intent was to give Jason props as a real-life professional photographer.

There may be cheaper photos available, but Jason's pics are worth their asking price.

The bummer for me was that he didn't get a shot of me. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to ride the CC again.

I finished 136th in 9:22:08. Looks like I've got something to shoot for next year. Considering I spent at least 20 minutes dealing with the blown tire issue and the run I'm pretty happy.

My buddy I was riding out with me until I flatted finished in 8:39. Given the mechanical and my poor performance towards the end my goal for next year is 8:00 or lower. Throwing down the gauntlet. I figure it took me 3 hours from Holy Jim to the finish. I should be able to knock plenty of time off that.
