    Listen Sally,

Last year I taunted Mfoga at Peter's looking up at Big-Red, I quipped "Just middle-ring that 8itch". He actually bit, and tried it. He didn't make it very far, but it gave me an idea of what it would take. So the next time I was there, I did it. On my 40lb Kona Coiler!! When I got to the top all I could muster between gasps for breath was "That was stupid".

I've also "middled" Cholla, but no where near in five minutes.

Funny, when I ride an XC bike (sub 30 lb) it's pretty easy to big ring everything. Wonder why that is? Anyone want to try to beat my time on my Coiler with 2.35" tires and slime-filled tubes?? Or will you need to shave your legs that day?? It should be an up and back with deductions for time spent in the air!! and bonus points given for scaring the hikers. You hear me Nancy-boys??

Hey, uphill has the right of way! Honestly, I can't stand seeing people come hauling down Cholla. I mean, links is right next door and a helluva lot more fun. It's just too busy to come down even on the weekdays.

Some of you boys need to play with your girls (or whatever) a bit more often - you have WAY TOO much testosterone left over for these games.... ;)

it's legal. and it has a stout little climb just past the cave that's just begging for a pissing--i mean climbing--contest.

    Aliso is open!
Did Cholla in 5:54 today around 3:30pm. My GPS shows .36 from post to post. I thought for sure I would get under 5 but those last yards to the top seem to click away the seconds when you are out of breath. My wife did it in 7:15. She would have done it in under 7 but a tree jumped out and bit her!

Does the 'cross bike also mean spandex?

I've found that 10 lbs of bike is not enough to turn a 500 yard middle ring climb into a big ring climb (unless you've got the chain crossed up into 46/11).

40 lbs of rider, on the other hand...THAT is a BIG difference! :?:

I've gotta lose this spare tire I've picked up.

Rode it at noon, then coughed up a lung at the top. Stupid bronchitis!

Also, it helps to push the "Lap" button on your GPS instead of the "STOP RECORDING" button. Oops. I think I did it somewhere around 6 minutes, with very little warmup, with one lung hanging out ;)

Started out WAY too fast, ran out of steam 1/3 of the way up, but still managed to clean it without dabbing.

I saw a coyote running off with something...maybe it found your lung before you did?

No really, I did see my first coyote today (on my first solo ride...go figure). But it wasn't carrying anything.
